Horse Racing (29th Feb)

  • First race to watch is the 2:10 at Ayr for Money back 2nd to SP on Will Hill.

Based on odds Orioninverness has a pretty good chance of finishing 2nd to SP (about 30% I estimate). But the exchange is going to have to do a lot better if you’re hoping to get a cheap qualifying loss. If you like a gamble you could pay up to £4 for this horse in my opinion …..

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

1st weekday WH are doing 2nd to SP fav and there has been more than normal oportunities to get a matched qualifying bet.
    Coincidence or what

But what about the question regarding normal mug punters just betting randomly? Unfair to gub them just because they bet on a horse they wouldn’t have known the odds were abit on the high side.

I think the bookie will like ppl doing the 2nd to SP promo because genuinely its not good value.

Unless you can get very very tight odds.

Its a dream for Will Hill watching us back 10/1 and 9/1 long shots in the hope of getting a free bet …..

FOG this is why i said the other day people may as well put a straight forecast on if theyre determined to bet on a race. The odds on some races would prob be better and your getting real money if it comes in rather than a free bet. Yes its gambling but with some races theres absolutely no value chasing MBS offers.

The random mug punters are unlikely to have backed all 4 so far where exchange odds have been less than back odds.
Thats maybe why WH have set up more than one trap to avoid gubbing the 100’s of mug punters who backed Powerful Dream.

Totally agree Pickle. Sometimes its more value in just gambling which says something really.

But I have a specific formula for these that I will only back a horse who has a certain calculated chance of being 2nd to SP and weigh that up against the qualifying losses to decide if its worthwhile value. That being said though, if I see a qualifying profit then I’ll back anything and take my chances – like today.

Anyone else on Kilbree Chief in the 16:20 at Ayr? Hills paid it out as a winner, but Betfair kept the market ‘in play’ for an age after it finished, offering me the chance to Cash Out for a £75 loss instead of the full £115 loss.

I am guessing something happened in the race that may have led to them overturning the result?

My question (to you horsey types) is whether Hills could have changed their mind and taken my winnings back? I have a feeling they couldn’t and I should have taken advantage of the situation by Cashing Out on Betfair, but unsure?

He won by a neck according to racing post but maybe there was still a photo or something. And the racing post text commentary doesnt give any clue that something funny happen.

So, in your experience FoG, if a bookie has paid out, and then the result is overturned, can they take the winnings back off you? I was worried they could, so didn’t Cash Out on Betfair, but looking back it would have saved me £40 (in liability) if I had done.

For clarity, my horse kept the win, after the photo or stewards enquiry, or whatever it was that happened

I doubt a bookie can or would take back a bet after paying out. I’m not sure.
