New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.
Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.
FoG one other thing to point out is the bet365 offer isn’t a free bet, more a refunded risk free bet on the next race. So although you need to extract from it you aren’t losing the 20% from a normal free bet
But I agree I only do the offer if the horse is between 4/1 and 6/1 and I like the look of it
+0Some one should do some official guidelines on this offer on when it is value. Qualifying bet cost vs odds
For example
I would play this offer for 4/1 horse with back/lay odds that give £5 qualifying bet cost for £50 free bet.
For 5/1 horse I wouldn’t pay more than £4 for free bet.
For 6/1 I wouldn’t pay more than £3.25 for free bet.
I’m guessing at the numbers, but you get the idea. We need to have a guide based on probability of the horse winning and cost of qualifying bet. With some mathematical basis behind it.
At the very least you should check that you’re not getting better value just straight betting the horse.
+0Another point to make about it is that if the odds are close you can overlay so that you lose nothing if the horse doesnt win but still make £25-30 if it does
I managed to get about £250 from bet365 to the xchange at no cost using this method. Had no winners that day lol+0There seem to be different definitions of “value” here.
This offer is profitable if you are able to pick a winner, its a £50 risk free bet not a £25 free bet. That £50 risk free bet could then go on and win making it even more profitable.
Todays selection is based on the horse and the fact I fancy it more than the others that are 4/1 or above, yes tight back and lay odds are important but I look at stats and form as well.
Matched betting kind of takes the fun out of betting on football, racing, etc, this offer helps put the some of that back in.
+0Yes sorry I forgot the B365 offer was 50.
But if you fancy him why don’t you just straight bet him at 8/1?
What did your qualifying bet cost you? What do you get if he wins? A £50 free bet?
He was a good spot though, I notice he is shortening in price. So you pick them good.
+0My qualifying loss is 89p, backed this morning at 8/1 and just got it fully matched (not quite sure when or how that happened as it still shows as 10 at the exchanges).
I fancy him as the best shot for this offer, I wouldnt punt my money on him. If he does win, I get a £50 risk free bet for the 3.15 race. Usually I would back and lay using risk free calculator for a guaranteed £35 profit but the favourite for the 3.15 is strong so if I do get a risk free bet I’d just back the favourite, if he loses I get it refunded and no harm done, if he wins then I’m looking at about £65 profit.
Lots of ifs though, the two 2nd place offers I’ve gone for are better chances.
+0That’s a good bet so.
When i was looking I could only get him at 10 on the exchange, so wasn’t worth it.
Hope he wins for you.

By the way you must be doing well to be able to lay a 7/1 horse at £50!
Well done.
+0Thanks and good luck to you too, my only advice would be go for it and don’t worry so much about short term value. You’ll eventually get good profits.
+0Well Friday was payday and yesterdays successes meant my exchange float was bolstered big time. The liability on this race is £400.
+0Managed to overlay Carlo Rocks for a fiver profit. Got lucky with his price dropping after backing.
+0Ah well came 2nd or 3rd to another 9/1 shot.
+0BOOOOOOOM good vibration!!!!
Only horse I did today+0Got the 2nd place horse with WH on that race then
+0It was a good bet for 89p. He ran well. You probably made a little out of this if B365 pay out at 9/1 which they should and you layed him at 8/1.
