How much to keep in each account?

  • After opening accounts for the welcome offers, if the lay bet wins is it better to keep the money in or withdraw it? Is there a certain amount of money to keep in each account that makes being gubbed less likely?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

If your lay bet wins, your balance will increase at the betting exchange. Don’t worry about how much you’re keeping in your exchange accounts. Betting exchanges make money by charging us a small commission on our winning bets, so it’s of no interest to them to restrict or gub our accounts.

As for your bookmaker accounts, there are no concrete rules on how to avoid being gubbed. I advise leaving a small amount in your accounts if you can afford to, particularly with any bookmakers running decent promotions regularly. If you have a big win with a bookmaker, it’s probably a good idea not to withdraw the total amount straight away. I wouldn’t worry too much, though.

    I hope that helps.
