  • Matt doesn’t like MARMITE ???

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I just hope the forum doesn’t die now. He was an annoying little dawg. But I’ve seen good forums die when controversial characters get the boot. Time will tell I suppose.

Totally agree Bazza and I know a lot of lads off of here have said he was the main reason they come on here, myself included.

This forum is really just for beginners now, it hasn’t gone advanced like the OddsMonkey community has. Loved his banter and that’s all people should have taken it as, a troll having the bantz.

At least he has more time now to smash the 20k barrier for July 🙂

Why has Matt got rid off him now ? What was the final straw, always thought he was a bit much but he’s definitely helped a lot of people make more money on here

    Every dog has its day…….

I hope it’s only a temp ban. He makes these pages entertaining and love him or loathe him he is a bloody good matched better.

He makes this an entertaining read and he has helped me with new strategies most notably the fallers insurance! Yes he can sometimes rub people up the wrong way but at times there has been a lot of ganging up against him.

I hope the dog will have another day soon!

Yeah not sure an outright ban was appropriate, will miss him.

Disagree that he was a good matched better though, he only told us of his methods after they had “won”. Rarely did he post a good offer/arb.

Brought it all on himself too.

That’s a shame.. I thought he was harmless really and he probably was the ‘big dog’.

A difference I see with OddsMonkey is more casino offer information. They aren’t guaranteed of course but you do make money in the long run provided there is a positive expected value. A lot of them aren’t worth bothering with though and it does require a lot more discipline.

If you get enough free spins you’ll get something on them , couple of quid here and there adds up. Betfair casino and arcade always have decent offers , Skybet Vegas and casino , also Paddy power and Ladbrokes are very generous. Often you’re eligible even when gubbed or restricted on sports stuff.

He was a total fantasist who was being laughed at on here rather than laughed with. He was capable of standard matched betting practices but there was no way in hell he was making cash in areas that very experienced bettors such as Chris could not seem to see. There was always a predictable boast around the corner when someone else won big. And once the ‘Special One’ turned up, very predictably matchedem upped his profits to ridiculous levels similar to the ones stated by him. As Chris said, there was rarely any evidence of the wins, with boasts all coming post race. I didn’t mind him but he was starting to be so repetitive it was borderline tedious.

Aye , it could seem like a kick in the balls him saying he’s made a fortune all the time when you might not have had the best of days yourself.

Jesus lads, you mustn’t have a lot to be worrying about in life if things like his “profits” got to you.
He probably got a great kick out of winding ye up.

Even now he’s gone and he’s still centre-stage. It was clear he was taking the piss when talked about ‘multi-million pound’ contracts between faller insurance qualifiers haha

Well I saw this coming. I think he had enough warnings. Brought it on himself didn’t he?

I don’t see what was far fetched about his profit boasts, though. Do ppl believe that’s it not possible to make 3k per month or just believe that it’s not possible for matchie to make 3k per month.

I don’t think it was fair how some posters singled him out but if mark corrigan says that he makes 10k per year on backing the sky bet boosts at the inflated exchange odds every one falls over in awe. Fallers insurance probably has a much bigger edge than backing boosts on the exchange, although not as scalable I admit and not as permanent since the gubbing will eventually come.

He lived and breathed it. Spent hours per day going by the logs that he has posted and i hope he got his rewards because he deserved them.

He was relatively new as well so it’s possible that he had a number of ungubbed accounts to keep him rolling along.

Anyway matchie I’m sure you can track some of us down on Twitter or otherwise if you feel like keeping in touch!

@78naD I am interested in your comment about the OddsMonkey community discussing advanced strategies. Are these just for people that still have ungubbed accounts? The reason I ask is that I have been doing well following Foggys no lay acca system.

The problem is the bookies eventually get fed up of you taking their money and either restrict you (started happening) or gub you completely. I’m hoping my accounts might last until xmas, but they could all go within a week or two of the new football season starting.

Are any strategies mentioned on OM that involve just using the exchanges (for example something like Mark Corrigan mentioned on here a while back) in which case I would be interested in joining, but if its all based on ungubbed bookies then I would not get much out of it.

@Foggy, I agree I think its perfectly possible to make 3K a month at all this at least for a while. The bookies eventually catch up with you and the gubbings will occur. As mentioned in a previous post I made over £4k in the last three months of the footie season following your methodology of no lay accas.

I did not spend a great deal of time doing them in fact I became very complacent, a lot of the time I didn’t bother putting in the odds into a spread sheet. After a while you can tell just by looking at the back and lay values available if the bet is worth doing.

I never bothered to record my time doing these accas and I tended to mix up doing them with reading and posting on message boards, and trying to learn to trade, but if I had to guess I would think I was averaging less than an hour a day on the accas.

So if matchie was also doing accas it will still leave him plenty of time to do all the other things available to a competent match bettor and so 3k a month on average could easily be done.

I think the problem people would have trying to get to that level is the day job could well get in the way of it. I’m not sure if matchie had a day job (he may have been a shift worker) but I got the impression he was doing this full time.

Its a shame he liked to rub people up the wrong way, as he did have some good information to pass on to people. I would imagine the boards will be very quiet now without him, but match betting generally is far less popular than it once was. This is possibly a good thing, as the bookies might ease off on being so quick to gub people.

I think he is a good matched bettor in terms of hammering the basic offers, even low EV ones. In terms of putting in the hours and that effort i don’t think could question that, wish i had that motivation!

But i don’t believe he ever claimed to be making much from Accas and Ew arbing for example, which would make his profits seem more plausible.
Getting on 40 standard arbs in a morning seemed far fetched!

@matchedem’s ban is temporary as he has not broken any forum rules. A short break from the forum will hopefully do everyone some good.

The whole situation disappoints me as we’re all here with a common goal and we need to accept that everyone is different. I don’t have an issue with @matchedem. I agree that the boasting is a little tedious but he also posts some good stuff.

On another note, I’m hoping to make some changes to the forum over the next couple of months that will hopefully improve things.

@dave_jones when I say advanced stuff over at OddsMonkey it’s the stuff that isn’t risk free, but does have positive EV. They class it as advanced because you have to understand the nuts and bolts and be willing to risk a free quid but trust in the EV over time (like the no lay accas you said you’re now doing).

Offers such as Bingo and Casino are often over looked here. It seems to be mainly FREE SPINS that people go for here whereas anything with a +EV is discussed over there.

Also there was a nice write up of how to lock in profit on BetBright’s Greyhounds offer the other day over there, you’d need to be advanced to do it proper though and be quick.

Matchedem brought a lot of light to this site, it’s going to be dull without him.
