ID documents hassle?

  • Hi everyone.

I am a noob and have just started the new customer offers process.

All has been going swimmingly with the more well-known sites (Coral, Ladbrokes etc), but have encountered difficulties withdrawing money with the less well-known, particularly: K8 and Karamba. These sites have asked for all sorts of documentation (photos of passport, debit card, utility bills), and then after sending them – they have given me the ‘run around’ saying X and Y aren’t sufficient etc. I get the feeling that they will probably continue to do this until I either give up or die of old age.

Can anyone tell me please…how common is this ID rigmarole with the less renowned companies?
Are there any others to avoid like the plague?

    Cheers.

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

This is pretty standard practice with most bookies.

Some do seem to be “ more demanding” about the quality of the images, clarity etc.
I can’t speak re K8 or Karamba as I don’t have accounts with them.

I can’t recall the bookie I’m afraid but for one I had to send an image of me holding my passport to my face.

Hi, Ive won the qualifying bet on K8 and tried to withdraw and have emailed them all of the relevant documents yesterday.

I spoke to someone on live chat today and she said shes sent the docs to the relevant dept for checking. Im really worried now after reading some horror stories!

Did you get asked for additional documents straight away? And were you eventually paid out?

    Thanks

Yes it is a hassle. I don’t have a driving license or a passport, and I’ve had several sites that won’t even let me deposit as I have no photo ID.

I have no plans to travel or learn to drive in the foreseeable future so I’m looking into getting a UK CitizenCard, which is considerably cheaper than either a license or a passport. Does anyone know if bookies accept this?

It’s not something I have experience with @biba27, but it looks like you should be okay with a UK CitizenCard.

I’ve recently faced the same issue with one website, and it looks suspicious that they ask for this sort of info.

Gambling operators must ensure their customers can afford to wager with them, so requesting ‘source of funds’ documentation isn’t unusual.

Not all bookmakers will ask for documentation; it varies between operators.
