Initial float?

  • Hi there!

I’m a total newbie; I haven’t even completed any welcome offers yet, but I’m hoovering up as much info as I can first, before I start.

I want to make sure I understand everything, and move at a steady pace. I’m fairly good with figures and can get my head around the concepts of MBing.

There’s one question which I can’t seem to find a definitive answer to, and I’m hoping perhaps some of you can help.

I’ve seen a lot of info which suggests time is the biggest factor in terms of the profits that can be made. I’ve also seen a lot of info suggesting you can start out with just £50-100. Realistically though… what kind of bankroll is needed to consistently hit around £500-1000/month, and is that possible from month 1? Although I want to start slow, I am willing to pump a little more than £50-100 in, especially for the welcome offers.

In your experience, what kind of projections would you expect from a newbie with a £1,000 initial float and all the time in the world? (is that overkill? underkill?)

Again, not wanting to rush things, I just want to avoid the slow start of having to wait for funds to transfer etc., and I’m wondering if initial bankroll is the biggest factor here. I can’t help but feel that time isn’t everything.

Thanks in advance, looking forward to joining the community!

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Hi EThomas, it has been a few years since I started out so I can’t for the life of me remember what float I had when I started. I personally have a large float because I have multiple accounts but I reckon you will need more than £50-100 depending on how quickly you want to earn money. Say for instance you have a £10 free bet, you back/lay a horse at 11/11.5, you’ll need £100.59 to cover the liability in the exchange. Now take Ladbrokes £50 free bet offer. Of course you dont always have to take matches at such high odds so your liability will be less but you do tend to get nicer matches at those sort of higher odds. £1,000 if you can do it would give you a really good start. Good Luck.

I started with exactly £105 in April 2017.

    I’m now at +£13,700 profit.
