Irish Open Golf – Extra Place

  • Sky are 6 places terms 1/4 odds.

Paddy Power are 7 places terms 1/5 odds.

Willet is 18/1 on Sky, implies 5.5 to place. Can lay for 21 (win) and 5.6 (place). QL on £20.00 bet is -£3.94. Win £106.06 if he finishes in the extra place. So effective odds of 26.9 to finish 6th.

Knox is 28/1 on Paddy Power, implies 6.6 to place. Can lay for 32 (win) and 7.2 (place). QL on £20.00 bet is -£5.22. Win £126.78 if he finishes in the extra place. So effective odds of 24.3 to finish 6th or 7th. Seems value here to me 28/1 to finish in position 1 vs 23/1 to finish in position 6 OR 7 gives two shots at more achievable position for him. Try Knox on Sky too for effective odds of about 100/1 to finish 6th.

Fitzpatrick is 41 on Sky, implies 11 to place. Can lay for 48 (win) and 10.5 (place). QL on £20.00 bet is -£3.75. Win £216.25 if he finishes in the extra place. So effective odds of 57.6 to finish 6th. Higher effective odds than 1st and 6th seems a much more achievable position for him as he is not in the favourites.

Is there value in any of these or am I just clutching at straws. These are the best I can find, but so many golfers in these fields you can’t check them all.

The Masters went great for me, I hit a profit on D. Johnson. But the Players Championship was a total bust, I went for 3 and 2 didn’t even make the cut (incl Spieth) and the other ended nowhere too. Anyone with good knowledge of golf and golf betting to know if these offers are actually worth doing…

Wouldn’t bother. Ideally you need to pick the player that will finish on his own in 6th place. Just having a lonesome 6th place is pretty difficult as they share the places. (Ie 5 in 3rd place, then goes to 8th)

Better to lower ur stakes to try to make it as close to risk free as possible. I tend to normally do 5 each way on these, trying to take no more than 50 p ql on each selection.

    You’re probably right felttip.

So when I compare Knox’s chance of finishing 6th (for a 100/1 payout) to his chance of finishing 1st (for a 28/1 payout) I’m not really being fair.

Just because he is not the top favourites doesn’t mean he is more likely to finish 6th than 1st because there might not be a 6th place at all!

Danny WIllet 19/21 to win and 5.5/5.3 to place (smarkets)
    £5 e/w gives between 46 – 50p q loss or £27.05 in finishes 6th.

So I’ve got 5 of the say top 15 in the market mainly at low stakes. Total loss only £1.70 and if any come 6th I get between 30 and 70 profit. I;’d say its a worthwhile bet and makes it exciting

Qualifying losses seem pretty huge with these picks.

Probably too late now but fisher and willett were decent q

Think in future he key thing is don’t get too hung up on the win odds…many golfers have much lower place odds (as guess they often do well but never win) meaning overall u can lose a bit more on the win part

While placing my bets I even found a couple of small arbs on sites that didn’t pay any extra place…but these did mean I’m a couple of quid up whatever for an hours work with a number of shots at more

    @simon6522

No. 6th place only. The offer is an extra place, so back and lay as normal would be covering off the win and to place in the top 5. However as the bookie is offering an extra place compared to the exchange 6/5. Then you will win both the lay part of the bet on the exchange and the back part at the bookies.
