ITV Racing Coverage – Opinions?

  • Ok so ITV have had the racing coverage for some time now and I wondered what everyone thought about it compared to Channel 4?

I wrote a thread here complaining about it and really missed Channel 4’s coverage but I have to admit ITV’s is pretty good.

I like their attention to detail outlining the tracks, best draws and what horses suit the ground, its done a lot better than Channel 4.

The presenters are generally ok, Ed Chamberlain is clearly out of his depth when it comes to horse racing, like hes learning as he goes along. The others are ok though, I especially like the guy Jason out on the course, how he winds up the big bookies, hes clearly one for the punters and his tips are good too. Way better than the Channel 4 guys sitting in the studio not being able to pick a thing out every Saturday.

They also have good featurettes away from the races or ex-jockeys as guest presenters that I quite enjoy although this week at Chester, Johnny Murtagh has been given waaaaaaaay too much time to talk about his racing days, hes tipped some good winners though.

So yeah pleasantly surprised by how good the coverage is, shame a few of the Channel 4 people couldnt be taken across but I’m liking it. Aintree coverage was great and this week at Chester has been good too.

    Agree?
