Ladbrokes offer – Money back if horse is 2nd

  • On trawling thro’ the various bookies and their offers I have come across the following for Ladbrokes.

‘ If your horse finishes 2nd in any live Channel 4 race with at least 5 runners, we will refund your stake as a free bet (up to £25 for to win and up to £12.50 for the win part of each way single bets). 1st bet per race only’

The only thing you have to do is join the ‘grid’

Surely this is a great offer which we should take advantage of or am I missing something?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

tennispunter take a look at some of the horse racing threads on this site, this type of offer is talked about all the time. The main problem as I see it, is that if you are fairly new to the bookie you are doing the offer with (in this case Ladbrokes), then the chances of being gubbed fairly quickly are quite high.

That mention of ‘the grid’ is a little strange. I only used it for the first time with an accumaltor I placed in a shop.

Joining the grid is I guess a way of Ladbroke’s encouraging you to use them. I cannot see the downsides of doing so.

BTCF19 – I would agree it’s just that I am surprised that Matt does not highlight this offer in the same way as those for Sky?

Dave_Jones – You are probably right but who knows what their methodology is re gubbing, it seems to me to make the most of any offers whilst they last and hope for the best re not being gubbed!

I thought the grid was only used to check bets placed in the shops but I didn’t really look at properly to be honest when I checked the bet yesterday.

This is on every Saturday online at Ladbrokes, without the need for a grid card. The card is only needed if placing in a store, otherwise you don’t get the money back 2nd offer.
As to why Matt doesn’t blog the online 2nd offer (same with the old W Hills 2nd offer) I’m not sure. Perhaps the chances of messing it up and losing a lot of money is a factor? Specially when trying to get on one after another in quick succession.

Thks felttlp – Now I have read this offer again you are right, you don’t have to sign up for the grid unless doing it in the shop. Shame I would quite like to be able to it anonymously in shop!

Matt – if you happen to see this are you able to explain why you are not recommending this offer on your excellent blog?
