Mintbet – Champions League Money back if fail to qualify

  • betman mentioned this one in another thread.

This is more a “in theory” post. Because “in practice” its going to be hard to guarantee anything from this offer. But there is a big chunk of value – around 30% return on investment – on the long shots here.

Not really much value on the favs. They are all quoted at something like 1/12 and shorter to qualify from their group – so only 7% chance or less of a bet back. PSG odds are close at 7.5/7.6 but even 76p QL at a 25/1 shot is hardly worth wasting your time for.

The only ones I think worth it are Spurs 41/55 which is a big £6.73 QL but they are about 55% (derived from bookie odds) to qualify from the group so about 45% chance of £25 bet back. Overall worth about £2.30, so almost 10% roi.

And Celtic at 501/950 which is a £12.08 QL (and no way any body has the float to lay that one and tie up that much fund till May). But its definitely over 90% sure that they wont get out of the group so almost certain to get a free bet back and the £20 after extraction. This makes about just under £8 profit or about 30% roi.

I really don’t think there is anyway to make this worth while though. All I can think is a small punt on Celtic or Spurs without laying. Just taking it as a value bet. But its just too unlikely to happen – seems pointless hoping. Maybe you can guarantee some profit if they get off to a good start or qualify. Laying is just going to tie up waaaaay too much funds because the value is only on the long shots.

Even laying a fiver @950 though it would guarantee (along with the £20 after extraction) that you get your full stake back. Then you would be on a free bet on Celtic to win if they qualify and break even if they don’t qualify. But laying a fiver @ 950 is holding up almost 5 grand! This scenario might not be too bad on spurs.

    So I think.

    Back Spurs £25 @ 41. Lay £5.10 @ 55 (liability 275).

They don’t qualify then you have £20 back from FB extraction and £5 back from exchange = BREAK EVEN.

If they do qualify then lay another £5.10 at the new lay odds. So now you have a chance of a big payout £1,025 – £275 (1st lay) – something much less than 275 (2nd lay) for free. Or cash in when/if the lay ever drops to some decent return.

Another thing to watch out for is the rules on free bet extraction, they have max odds 6/1 or something so maybe don’t count on getting full 80% extraction.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

The 10bet offer is better value but I didn’t post it as again needs big exchange tie up to make worthwhile-
Bet £40 get freebets for each win. Freebet level varies by team so £2 for favourites and bigger for longer shots. Value is in the middle, Liverpool are £5 a win and can be got on for what I think was about £4 ql. Low enough to be in profit from 2 wins anyway

But is still a big exchange tie up, and even as a Liverpool fan I wouldn’t chuck £40 away on it being a value punt.

I guess you could underlay Liverpool, then do spurs with mintbet to combine but still funds tied up and hassle v return question

I think Bayern and PSG look good value on the 10bet offer too. I would expect them to earn 4 or 5 wins = £10 in free bets for a small QL ~ £1.

My version of the 10bet one is €30 qualifying bet which makes for a smaller QL than £40.

Last ditch decision to back bayern

Was 7.5/7.6 but teetering on 7.4 so pretty much a perfect match. Will let it run till quarters at least.

Yea, I have Bayern and Spurs covered on these two offers. And an unlaid free bet on PSG at 7.5/7.6 somewhere else, in theory 84% extraction so not really wasting value there.

Instead of laying I will probably cover off a few more eventualities using free bets and other offers if they come up and there is value in it. I can re-asses at the semi’s see if I need to place a covering bet or lay (there is a good chance both PSG and Bayern are still involved so it should be possible to extract some profit from those bets then).

I would like to get something on Real and Barca.

There is sometimes good “in theory” free bet extraction value on the tournament outrights. It doesn’t fit the profile of a matched bettor. Too much money tied up too long if you are strictly matched betting – so a matched bettor wouldn’t be expected to bet on England for the WC2018 @ 21.0/22.0 even though 90% extraction value, or I saw Brazil 8.5/8.0 last week too (93% extraction rate). So I like to use my freebies on tournament outrights to throw them off the scent. Especially when I’m interested in them – adds to the enjoyment of the tournament too. It’s my muggy thing that I do.

Good day for Spurs. Will avoid English teams and Real in the next round too. If they can hold top and they should then they will also avoid PSG and Barca.

Worst draw for the next round could be Bayern, but also could have Shakhtar, Basel or Porto…. Juve or Sevilla might be tricky. But here’s hoping they top group, get a nice draw and that they can stroll into the last 8.

Outright has dropped to 19.0 in play.

My bayern bet isn’t showing any better value when I look at current lay odds and what I’ve extracted from freebets!

However that’s a risk, and similar offers on prem league winner and top scorer are looking pretty nice for me
