Available in shops too, definitely worth a big shop run.

Idaho currently trading around 1.8 so great offer.

For in shop does it have to be with a grid card?

The terms don’t specify ‘grid’ so would assume not. Obviously worth checking in store first though.

What’s the best way to play this “in shop”.
I have 6 shops near me.
Sorry for the Newbie question and thanks for any help.

Excellent, some serious potential if it’s true that no Grid card is required.

Densman, just back and lay any horse except Idaho. Obviously the best in terms of quali loss.

I would not even bother laying Idaho either, the horse wins the leger, too much class, stays all day

£18 profit per shop/per account then roughly

If you don’t lay off you’re just gambling. Odds on favourites go down all the time. Always lay your bets.

Completely disagree Sam maybe da man. If u don’t lay off idaho u are simply playing it like any of the money back if 2nd offers…so risking a quid or 2 to make 20. It’s not gambling as u are getting 10/1 on something that is odds on FACTUALLY

if u didn’t even lay the horse u bet on that would be gambling…but marvellous marv isn’t saying that (predictive text!)

It is my own preference to not lay the favourite

Over the long term it would be best if I was consistent in doing this all the time

However I have a very strong view that the horse will win, I follow horse racing more than any other UK sport

There are a few shops near where I live that are convenient, call it 4 including an online account, 4 x £18 is £72, however if I laid the favourite I would need to hit 7 to get the same return, those extra shops are not as convenient and then you have to weigh up the travelling cost for me

Anyway my preference and happy to not guarantee it

I agree with Marv… get lowst quali loss and dont lay the fav…. plus with your free bet you can easily extract more …. easy to find a horse arb in shop and maybe get 21-23 profit… lets hope you dont need a grid card!!

Samdaman, you seem to be getting mixed up. Marv was not talking about not laying the bets he placed at the bookies (as that would be on any horse except Idaho), simply to not bother attempting to ‘guarantee’ a £8 profit by laying part of the potential £20 freebet total off.

If that makes sense, it’s early :)

Also, I’m not sure if that’s the way to play it, choose between a 50/50 chance between -£1 or £19 or take the £8-£9. Personally I’d smash as many Ladbrokes as possible and nail the £8 everytime. Then rue it when Idaho strolls home.

Just because of the lack of shops in walking distance it does not seem worth it for me to lay the favourite

I could get in my car and drive to a few shops yes, but I would have to do that, then go back to every shop to get the free bet (1 at a time and watch the race), also coordinate certain shops to back certain horses if the unexpected happened and the favourite did not win so I only had to collect certain areas dependent on which horse won

When paddy power did the £100 money back on sprinter sacre at cheltenham 2012, I went round every shop in north of england and did guarantee the return, but at £100 a pop each time it was worth it

To be honest, if you read the terms, therefore every shop you go in you could back £25 on one horse on one slip, £25 on another horse on another slip

Just then take a mate with you when you go back to collect, give the mate a small cut for doing pretty much nothing

As long as you dont get spotted by the worker of the shop and questioned

Personally i won’t lay off. But those who lay the fave would rather have £11 in their pocket per bet than risk it for an extra £9.

Long term not laying is only slightly better due to paying less commission.

The argument about being about to get more with the free bets is irrelevant as those who lay still get the free bets and can too extract more than £20 too.
