My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Samdaman is right, it is a gamble by not laying the favourite, not a very risky gamble – probably a very very good gamble. Still a gamble. The safest way is always lay.

Everyone is free to play it their own way and not laying definitely has its merits. Im not saying anyone is wrong or right or what way is better. Just giving samdaman a little support here.

I suppose that if you are doing extra shops for this offer you have to consider the time. If Idaho wins then you have to go round collect your free bets and use them. If your horse wins then you have to go round each shop again and collect your winnings. If neither win then you do nothing. So maybe engineer it so that you get paid more for the more work you have to do. So going round all the shops and extracting free bets probably supports the option not to lay Idaho.

With these types of deal I usually like to go somewhere in the middle. Lay the fav for a fiver say, make yourself £15ish if it wins, £4ish if it doesn’t. Assuming you can get a small QL of course.

    some good tips here

QUESTION has anyone been in shop to do this offer yet? Tempted to do a run friday and saturday

Not sure how soon smarkets will have the race up

The other factor to consider is this

Obrien favourites usually shorten on the day as the race approaches, therefore if you can get a good match tomorrow or early saturday, the other horses that you have backed with ladbrokes might drift, and ladbrokes offer best odds guaranteed plus too

I am not 100% about what the shop offers compared to online, the shops might be best odds if placing bets during certain times

Ladbrokes BOG is offered from 9am in the shops. Bets must be placed on the same day as the race.
Completely disagree Sam maybe da man. If u don’t lay off idaho u are simply playing it like any of the money back if 2nd offers…so risking a quid or 2 to make 20. It’s not gambling as u are getting 10/1 on something that is odds on FACTUALLY
You’re looking at it the wrong way. You see it as risking 2 to make 20, you’re overlooking the FACT that you’re giving up a guaranteed £8 profit to do this. You have -2 vs +8, you are FACTUALLY risking 10 to make 20, which is just slightly better odds than backing Idaho outright, not 10/1 considering what you’re passing up. Play it safe, take the free money.

So I decided to approach this by taking SP prices, and matching these just before the off as the prices today are rubbish vs exchange.

What do people think of my strategy?

    McGubbin 2

I’m gubbed by Laddies so was considering doing this in shop as there’s 4 close to me. I enquired at one shop and was told (after a phone call to a manager) that the offer is for grid customers only.

Has anyone opened a grid account while gubbed? If I was to open a grid account will they request details that may flag up my gubbed status?

It also draws less attention in the shops FACT

I’d be wary of that strategy. This race look prime for ew thieving, so the SPs and the exchange prices could be unappealing at the off.

McGubbin its not for grid customer only so id recommend just place the bet and dont mention anything about the offer. they cant refuse after the race as the terms dont state that

Oh well re the SP strategy ill let u know how well/bad it goes. The prices on horses today was 5/6.6, 7.5/9.8 and 13/15 today thought so assume cant be much worse
