Mugg betting

  • Hello, I am new to this forum however I have done matched betting for a few years on and off. I have never really placed any mug bets, however I am looking to ramp up my betting to earn some extra money, and ideally avoid getting grubbed. I have read the mug betting guide on this site as was just wondering, does anyone have a successful strategy? I was thinking something of a 1:1 ratio, so every offer used, a mug bet placed, and layed off course to minimise loss? Obviously also sticking to the rules re ip addresses etc. So back to the question at hand? Do any of you strategically minded match betters have a tried and tested scheme to avoid these bans / restrictions?

Also like to add top site! Great lay out and easy to understand, credit to the admin!

    Thanks

    Chris

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Mug betting is a complete waste of time in this day and age 😉

Others will disagree but in my experience it will not stop you getting gubbed.

What will slow down how quickly you get gubbed is NOT jumping on blatant arbs. Some bookies are horribly slow at updating their odds (I’m looking at you here Stan James, Unibet and BetFred!) but if you take too many if them you will be shit down in days. Bookies hate, HATE it when you beat the SP.

    HTH 🙂

Probably worth pointing out that the Mug Betting guide you refer to was obviously written by Matt, the site owner.

Matt clearly makes revenues via affiliate links etc… (which is his business and not for anyone else to comment on!) but that means it is highly unlikely that he actually has any bookie accounts or does any of the offers he posts about, nor any of the mug betting practices he advises others to follow. Think of his profit log as more of a paper trial of what is possible rather than actual results.

Thanks for the input tony, I’m a little rusty with terminology, I’m guessing by blatant arbs your talking about when the odds are much higher than other bookies, so just taking them then laying it off for pure profit? No promo used?

Surely if your intelligent about how you bet, with a view to appear as a regular punter, e.g big mug bets on big competition / meets, mixed up with variable bookies, and not just rinsing the offers, show them that you “lose” money then you can continue using your accounts for prolonged periods of time?

Yeah, that’s exactly what an arb is mate. Tempting as they are to jump all over, they are a sure fire way to be gubbed/restricted/closed.

You might think appearing to be a regular punter will help, but what if you keep winning these mug bets? You seem to assume that you will lose all of these big mug bets on big comps and that you will therefore lose money to the bookies?

Mug Betting costs you money (qualifying losses) and time (finding acceptable ‘cheap’ mug bets) so ultimately it harms your bottom line. This would be fine if it meant it prolonged your skulduggery, but it won’t imho.

Of course, you are free to do as you wish, I am just offering an opinion to the initial question you posed 🙂

    Good luck

Then let’s hope I last as long as I can, way I see it, I can afford to lose £20 a month on mugging as I’m not getting ‘mugged’ off by profit accumulator haha

The only mug betting I do is an accumulator at the weekend with the best priced bookie and I still have the majority of my accounts.
