Multi account set up

  • Fine folks of t’interweb. I’d greatly appreciate some advice.

After getting into MBing in February I managed to clear about £6k. With all I’ve learned on here I’d now say I’m at a reasonable standard where with unrestricted accounts I’m confident I could reach £2k a month profit. However, in the process of learning and making mistakes I have slowly had all my accounts gubbed and restricted. I’ve taken some out in the wifes name but they’ve been quickly gubbed too, despite a different IP address, presumably because of the same home address.

So, I’ve got a list of trusted friends and family who have no interest in betting, so don’t mind eventually getting gubbed, and have agreed to let me set up accounts in their name and they get a % cut. I don’t see this strictly breaks the rules although I’m sure the bookies would say different! What I won’t do is blatantly commit fraud by creating accounts in fake names. What are peoples thoughts on this?

    So here is my plan:
    1) Give my friend some cash to put into their accounts with their own bank cards.
    2) Get a VPN and bet on their behalf
    3) Get them to submit their own ID to the bookies for eventual withdrawals.
    4) Manage withdrawals as the need occurs (hence, I’ll only use trusted friends).

What are the flaws with this please? I know sod all about tech. I understand I need to get a VPN, but do I also need a new device for each account (ie a cheap laptop etc) so they can’t link accounts via computer ID?

I’d be grateful for your thoughts…. Ta.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I doubt the profit has much to do with the legal side (Although that’s obviously the bookies true concern).
But I suspect the bookies t&c in detail combined with all the money laundering regulations/ ID checks aren’t really mitigated by “it’s ok, she said I could falsely declare I am her” in their strictest sense

Great thread and info thx all

Few random stuff from last few pages:

-VPN is fine, while many bookies are blocking VPNs overall if you find one that works quite simply put it works.

-People suggesting buying 5, 4g dongles ? waste of time and money, all internet dongles get a new ip address each time you press the connect button on your wireless dongle software (mac/windows), test it and see via ipleak.net. You can also use your mobile phone if you got good data allowance, switch of your phone and back on again and check ipleak.net and you will see your ip address has changed before and after.

Am no expert in the above, so please correct me if I am wrong! but have tried it myself and others I know have and it works fine.

    Hello,

Apologies for bringing up this topic again.

I’d like to go down the VPN route but would like to know if using two different accounts and placing a bet on someones behalf would the IP address from the VPN be the same and in turn be flagged up?

Could I use a virtual machine for one set of accounts connecting via a VPN and then my own just connected to the wi-fi?

VPN works fine in a lot of case but do be aware some sites wont accept VPN traffic – Bet365 being the real loss.
Using one machine – be aware of iSnare.
Much simpler to buy a 2nd hand laptop of ebay for example or a cheap smart phone.

Thanks for the reply. Yes i’ve heard that, but i’ve also heard that some such as Strongvpn work with bet 365.

Would you say it’s better to use a VPN company that gives you a static IP address as opposed to a dynamic one? Also what does this show when you search ‘what is my IP address?’ I’ve read somewhere that some show the details of the VPN company? I’m aware that the VPN companies how servers located around the UK, someone also mentioned that some connect to broadband providers but i’m not sure if that is possible.

Finally I plan to use a virtual machine on my mac via windows 10 for the vpn. What precautions would you take with regards to Isnare?

    Thanks

Been looking into a VPS but it looks like some bookies don’t allow you to use their site through that aswell.

Looks like mobile broadband might be the best option but I have a few questions if anyone can help please.

Firstly on this forum someone posted about operating 3 or 4 different accounts off the same phone via mobile broadband. How would this be possible? Wouldn’t all the sites you access be done so by using the same mobile broadband IP address?

If I decided to opt for a mi-fi, would I be able to connect to this via a virtual machine and still be connected to my home wi-fi through the original OS?

    Thanks in advance.

In respect of the possibility of a bookie gubbing you for multi-accounting, has anybody got good advice on if they have a limit how much they deposit in to a bookie account & how quickly they withdraw their deposit & winnings?. Any need to be concerned about loosing your hard earned cash? Thanks.

… my mate has 4 accounts and uses same device…. just switch on and off before doing your next account as it will give your phone a new IP address

Does your mate withdraw winnings immediately? Thanks.

no….he has 2 exchanges and joins betting sites in each name and leaves the money there for the following week to bet with or adds his own funds if running low. Turns phone on and off between each account when betting. Does a spreadsheet for each person to check profits and his arrangement is 50/50 which looking at this site appears generous but he’s happy to do it.

I think I saw his face last lift up from his phone on 16th November last year though ….. its rather time consuming

So I have doing some research into opening accounts for friends, since I have lost almost all the major accounts now since I started betting last year. A article I read recently got me thinking about the legality of multi-accounting:

    https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/gambling-identity-s-fraud-charge-over-56-000-winning-bet-20180415-p4z9r3.html

Note the wording in the charge: “dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage by deception”

However, this case is from Australia, and laws here might be different. I still think it’s quite a important point to consider. Even if we have evidence of our friend’s full permission, isn’t it technically illegal to deceive the firms of your true identity to benefit financially?

Technically illegal? Of course it is illegal, it’s not a technicality or anything. You are straight forward deceiving the companies!

    It’s a risk you take.

Maybe illegal is a strong word but absolutely against the terms and conditions and the firms seem to be within their right to seize whatever funds you have and not return them.

I don’t see you going to jail for it unless you are doing it on some grand scale.

Also interesting (to me) is whether the income you get from multi-accounting is taxable in the UK or not.

We’ve all heard that gambling winnings aren’t taxable but if you’re gambling for somebody else, their winnings may be exempt from tax, but the amount that you take is effectively a commission, which would IMO be taxable.

All fairly academic, as unless you’re making a very decent wedge from it, it wouldn’t be worth HMRC’s effort to investigate..

I think it is taxable, because you are “working” for the third party, and the third party is effectively an employer. Here’s a thread from justanswer.com covering the legality and tax issues:

    https://www.justanswer.com/uk-law/7gba9-professional-gambler-earned-around-600-000-gbp.html

    https://www.justanswer.co.uk/law/87rau-question-regarding-online-gambling-someone-opens.html

I think the safest approach is tell your friends what to bet on, and get them to place the bets themselves. At the very least, they should be doing deposits and verification themselves, since handling someone else’s financial accounts and identity documents for the purpose of making a financial gain brushes very closely withs fraud laws, even if it’s all done with the full permission of the third party.

To be honest, I think there is a reasonable arguement that matched betting is taxable, regardless of whether you are running just your own accounts, or running accounts for others.

The whole point of matched betting is that it is not gambling, so referring to gambling winnings when considering the tax treatment might be misguided…
