My Back and Lay bets both won (?)

Just done an arb on Sky.

I bet on Cloontia: £100 @ 1.69

Layed on betfair: £108.23 @ 1.63

(these odds are factoring in a rule 4 deduction)

My Sky bet won and my betfair lay won. The result, according to Sky was that Cloontia won. Betfair states another horse, Cloud Control won. Sporting Life still have not updated with their results, although I thought Sky based their results on Sporting Life.

Does anyone know how this could have happened? Do I stand to have my balance reduced if one party realises they have made a mistake? I’m confused and don’t want to get my hopes up.

There was no option to watch the race video, so I take it there is no chance of watching a video replay.

I had this happen to me few days ago. an unexpected 112 quid profit. Spot on FOG. It has to be first past the post. The delay on sporting life would be due to a stewards enquiry I suspect.

I think when you combine first past post,best odds guaranteed and rule 4 reductions that work in your favour you are bound to have a few pleasant surprises from time to time. Well done OP.

The (F) just means favourite. But the results are up and Cloontia is 2nd but no distance beside him, on the other hand Cloud Control is 1st but 1.25 lengths behind….

So something funny Cloontia seems like crossed the line first but the other horse was awarded the win.

I had the same thing 3 days ago. My horse won but was then disqualified. First past the post rule so bookie still paid. Ended up with £225 profit.

I’m gutted I didn’t do the same bet as you now! I was monitoring it but didn’t want to show out to the bookie with obscure bets for the sake of a couple of quid profit (or so I thought!!!!).

@ beaser. That would have been Seeking magic then. I got it on coral for 112.50 profit so i’m guessing you got that on bet365 then. You must have been more chuffed than i was haha

@Sy. Yes mate it was! Bookie was Coral. Well chuffed. I keep thinking the opportunities are drying up but the money keeps on coming in.

Definitely more in finding value than there is in doing the offers IMO.

@ beaser problem is there is a very steep learning curve in finding value bets on horses, its not something you can pick up easily and make money straight away like matched betting is.

Yes, I agree. I’m not knocking MB at all. I’m learning all the time and finding value seems to be a progression from MB when the easy freebies are drying up.

And I’m not saying MB is dying before anyone starts!

I doubt it as it’s an obscure market. Odds monkey does pick up Arbs (I use it), but I think the best arbs will be found by trawling through yourself manually.
