Never, Ever Cash/Trade Out

  • Been match betting for a few weeks now & all is well. (Until the other night!)

I started with £100 at the beginning and got up to £300. The other evening I signed up to LeoVegas’ double winnings promo and placed a £5 boost on the footy at odds of 19/layed at 11.5.

The said team were winning 1-0 in the 93 minute & I thought, “They won’t lose this now” & decided to trade out on Smarkets.

Big mistake! Penalty was conceded in the 95 minute and the match ended up being a draw. So I’m now back to approx £200.

I ended up gambling instead of letting the match run it’s course & being sensible.

This is (hopefully) useful info. for any other newbies new to match betting.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Indeed. I used to mug bet and never got anything out of it so when I started match betting I told myself never to gamble. I will very occasionally overlay but the whole point of match betting for me is being able to make a profit regardless of the result.

We can’t ever know what is going to happen and as you’ve seen one mistake can wipe out a lot of hard work – especially as match betting returns can be relatively small and build up over time.

    Indeed cosmos.

I felt it was necessary to post it as I’d hate other newbie’s falling into a similar trap. Still annoyed with myself but I have found some more bookie offers (mobile bet/redbet/grosvenor casino) so more profit there.

After reading some posts on here I’ve decided to underlay all my free bets as someone mentioned it’ll give you a bigger return in the long run.

Fingers crossed Paraguay will beat Peru tonight.

Is it possible (providing there is enough liquidity) to trade out on Smarkets & they lay again?

I’ve used a £50 free bet this morning & got odds of 13/13. Profit of £45.29

Just checked again & the lay odds have gone down to 8.6!!

It is but, you’ll be worse off (unless the odds come in, between you trading out and laying again).

The “trade out” function just places a back bet to even out your profit.

Smeg! Lay odds now at 8.2

    Would’ve been £71.88 profit if i’d waited.
