Newbie gone wrong maybe!!

  • Hi can someone help me out I think I’ve made a mistake unless I’ve mis-calculated

    £10 back stake 6.0
    £8.85 Lay stake 6.80

according to calculator I should make small lose of £1.33

But checking after result I have made £70 at bookmaker and lost £51.31 at exchange….
I don’t get it – If I take away my initial £10 stake I have made £60 at bookmaker and still lost total liability of £51.31 at exchange giving me a total loss of £8.69

    Am I missing something here…

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

If you have a £70 return from the bookies, take your stake away you have made +£60 at the bookies.

Loosing £51.31 at the exchange means you have actually made a profit of £8.69

Was this a horse bet? Was there best odds guaranteed? It sounds like the horse was bet on at 6.0 and went off (SP) at 7.0 therefore the bookies will pay you an extra £10.

Your right after re-calculation I made £8.69 but the calculator (normal bet) said I would lose £1.33

It was a horse race but odds stayed the same, no bonuses or anything.

I’m just confused that – The exchange lay bet of £8.85 x 6.80 = £60.18… but the total liability on exchange was £51.31 (£51.31+£8.85=£60.16 + 2% = £60.18) Where did the stake go??

    If your following me…So I lost £51.31 at exchange but won £70 (-£10 stake)=£60 at bookies….That gives me a profit of £8.69….

I don’t understand this system, I thought I was going to make small loss..It’s just as well horse won otherwise I would have lost the £8.69

    Hold on – I place £10 with bookie @ 6.0 that means odds where 5/1 = £50+stake £10 = £60

    I’m calculating is decimals that’s where I’ve gone wrong I believe….

So I won £50 at bookies and lost £51.31 on exchange……It correct.

Sorry to stress peoples brains out with black magic calculations….
