Newbie in Germany

  • Hi,
Is there anybody there that match bets from Germany, that can give me a bit of advise on how to start?
It just happens that my official address is stuck in Germany, while i mainly travel and my proficiency in the German language is very low.
I looked at several of the popular betting sites, and saw the the Sign Up bonuses are usually just for UK, or in any case not for residents of Germany.
So I’m not sure which sites i can use as a German resident. I saw there are a few German betting sites, but since they’re in German, they might as well be in Chinese. Are there also enough sites in both languages, with offers for Germany?
Does it make sense to sign-up with ProfitAccumulator or Oddsmonkey, since I have to pay to subscribe and maybe they mostly just match odds from UK bookies?
    Thanks for any advice!

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

If you have a UK bank account and debit card, just use the address that’s registered with your bank. Or the “home” address on your drivers license should suffice.

You’ll probably need a VPN to get on to most of the sites though. When I’m travelling (which is 70% of my time) Depending on the coubtry I’m in, I can’t access the book maker’s sites without a VPN connection). You can download an app to your mobile (try Free VPN UK, or SurfEasy VPN).

If you’re not on the VPN when you register, there will be a mismatch on your country IP at time of registration, and the country of residence that you supplied when signing up. Your account will be automatically suspended. Skybet, Betfair and Boylesports suspended my account on sign up because of this, and I couldn’t get them back until I contacted them when I was back in the UK.

Another note, Smarkets will decline deposits from users if they’re connected to a VPN, and also if your location is different to the registered address of your bank card. So in your case you’ll need register at smarkets with your German address to deposit to your Smarkets account with your German card, or stick with your UK addreds and use a wallet like Skrill (they charge fees for depositing and withdrawing funds fyi).

Sounds like a headache, but really it is quite straight forward.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Thanks for the reply! i don’t have a UK bank account or debit card. All i have is a German address, German bank account and debit card, but i don’t speak German. I didn’t know that Smarkets is such a restrictive site. How can they know that you are using VPN if the whole point of a VPN is so that the sites doesn’t detect that you’re not where you say you are…?! If Smarkets can do that,.the any other site should be able to do that, and since using VPN is against their rules, ever ban should ban VPN users… What’s the point of paying for a VPN and think that nobody knows, when in fact everybody can see what you’re doing… I suppose that Smarkets also declines withdrawals to membres that are not signing in from the location they are registered at, as well as declining deposits, right?

In that case mate, just register to Smarkets using your legit details and you won’t have any issues what-so-ever, there’s no restrictions on your location with them.

You’ll struggle with the UK bookies though, if they don’t accept international punters, and you give them a dummy UK address, they might ask for proof of address before allowing you to withdraw any winnings, and if that happens you’ll be totally screwed, so be careful.

Well, like i was saying, my address just happens to be in Germany. I don’t live in Germany, what i do is i travel. I was wondering if there are other people from Germany that are using this forum, that could give me an advise as to what bookies to use, if Oddsmonkey is worth using, etc. And since Betfair exchange is illegal for Germans and VPN doesn’t work for Smarkets, it doesn’t look like there’s much option left…
