Not sure what's happened

  • I’ve placed a back bet at Coral with odds of 7.00 and a lay at Betfair with odds of 7.4. I put a lay stake of £16.44 as per the calculator. However, I have now just been on to Betfair and the odds showing on my open bets has changed to 5.47. I don’t know if this is a problem (will it actually work in my favour?) but I would like to know why this has happened?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

    Horse race?
    Are there non-runners?

    That’s the normal reason.

It’s called a rule 4 deduction, it will normally reduce your winnings too but, generally it’s not a problem and you’ll probably win slightly more/lose slightly less.

Ah, thank you for that! Yes it was indeed a horse race and 2 non-runners!
