Paddy Power – ante post bet = free bet

  • Place an ante post bet on any weekend race by midnight tonight and get a free bet of half your stake on weekend racing. Limited to £50 stake – £25 free bet.

No lay market of any note yet, so you will taking a risk on price, but hopefully qualifying losses should be low enough to make this profitable.

Wondering whether bigger issue is possibility of not being refunded if your horse is a non-runner?

Anybody have any thoughts on whether this is worthwhile, or too risky?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Non-runner is probably the main issue.

There was a Antepost market for the Sodexo Gold Cup at Ascot on Betfair yesterday but there was hardly any liquidity.

Not sure if it’s worth the risk. Having said that, I’ve had a go anyway, there’s still no market yet for the horse I bet on, it’s dangerously exciting.

There’s value in it for sure.
£20 ev from freebet, pick something half sensible and probability of non runner or odds drift won’t erode £20 value off your £50 stake.

I had a dabble too, just a £20 bet to test the water – on at 2.75 Managed to lay off today with a ql of £1.50, so barring disaster there will be profit. Will go bigger if they run it again…

waftycranker – from what I can see the rules for ante post bets with PaddyPower are as follows:

……Examples of races where ante-post betting would be available:

    -Cheltenham Festival
    -Aintree Grand National
    -Epsom Derby
    -Epsom Oaks
    -1000 Guineas
    -2000 Guineas
    -Dubai World Cup
    -Breeders Cup
    -Kentucky Derby

An advantage of this type of betting is that you may get a better price for a horse than if you waited for the declarations.

The main disadvantage of ante post betting is that if your horse doesn’t run it is considered a loser – ante post bets are accepted all in run or not.

There are some exceptions to this (see our comprehensive help section for more detials) when the horse will be void and the stake refunded.

Although ante post betting is popular in horse racing the same rules can apply across all sporting events – look out on the website for “ante post rules apply”‘.

    Non runner No Bet

For really big races like the Aintree Grand National and big festivals like the March meeting at Cheltenham, we suspend ante post rules early and declare ‘Non runner No Bet’

What this means is that if your horse does not run you will get your stake back whereas normally it would be considered a loser under ante-post rules.

The racing pages will either say ‘Non runner No Bet’ or ‘Ante Post rules apply’. If you need clarification just talk or chat with our customer service team and they can guide you.
