The £9.08 that @MB121 refers to is calculated on the basis of a full underlay, which is to lay an amount whereby if the back bet loses and the lay bet wins, your lay stake is literally just enough to ensure you get all of your back stake back. Obviously this only works when the back odds are larger than the lay odds, so mainly for boost offers like the one posted, or the Sky Footy accas, or Betfreds boosted horse prices…

In order to calculate the full underlay lay stake…
– for smarkets the formula is: Back Stake x 0.98
– for betfair the formula is: Back Stake x 0.95

So here, for the £20 back stake, using smarkets to lay, we do £20.00 x 0.98 = £20.41

Lay £20.41 @3.25 = liability of £45.92
Back £20.00 @3.75 – potential profit of £55.00

£55.00 – £45.92 = £9.08 which is the amount you have a risk free shot at winning if the back bet wins. If the back bet loses you obviously lose your £20, but then you get it all back thanks to the lay stake :)

You don’t need to do those sums yourself though – just use the trickybet calculator, they have several good ones over there including over/under lay, partial lay, dutch calc…

According to Smarkets the match has finished in the 2nd set set with Del Porto the winner. Lay bet has been voided. What happens to the £20 with PP????
