Real Madrid – PSG offer

  • Hello! I understand how you can make profit from the free bets you you get if your selected team wins both halves. However, if the selected team doesn’t win both halves then you lose some money.

A note at the bottom says that you can make this bet risk-free by laying the selected team to win both halves using a lay stake of the money you’re likely to lose multiplied by 0.95.

Surely if I do this and my team does win both halves then I will win my back bet i.e £50 and I can make £37.50 from my 50 in free bets. However I will lose the two lay bets on the betfair exchange, one being a simple lay bet on the selected team (-£50) and the other being the lay bet on that team to win both halves (-£50).

Overall, I will lose £12.50. (50-100+37.50= -12.50. Am I misunderstanding what is meant by putting on an extra lay bet to make the bet risk-free?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

you don’t lay £50 on the team you pick to lose both halves you just lay your whatever your qualifying loss was from your first bet .
I think you need to study the procedure a little more as you don’t seem to fully grasp any of it or you may lose a chunk of cash.
Note sometimes the lay on TTWBH is to large and makes it un profitable anyway and just taking the qualifying loss on first bet is best sometimes

As Xeno says, you’re misunderstanding a little.

If you look at Matt’s post, the qualifying loss is £2.33/£2.31..

Based on that, the risk free option is that (odds permitting) you lay £2.45 (£2.33/.95) on Real Madrid to win both halves. If Madrid don’t win both halves then you break even overall, if they do then (in theory) you win a small amount.

Based on the current odds, your qualifying loss would be £3.97. The lay odds on Madrid to win both halves is 15.5. So there’s no value in this offer based on those odds!

Yeh that’s what I mean I would have to lay 3.97/0.95= 4.17 on odds of 15.5 which has a liability of 60.47. So if I do that and they do win both halves I would lose out. As you were saying @xeno, the TTWBH is too high atm and it’s best just to take the loss of 3.97 or overlay at HT if Madrid are winning to guarantee profit!

    Cheers guys!

There’s no value in the offer at all based on those odds.

If you think Real Madrid will win both halves, you’d be better off just backing Real Madrid to win both halves on the betfair exchange, which is currently available at 10.0.

£3.97 at 10.0 would return £33.94 after commission, which is marginally better than the £33.53 (£37.50 – £3.97) you’d expect to make from the Coral offer if Madrid win both halves.
