Risk free bet confusion

  • Hey back again with a question about the risk free bet offers.
There is something i thought i got my head around and now i’m not so sure, so to try and make it clear what i mean i will use an example.

Genting sign up offer – Deposit and stake £10 get £10 refunded as a free bet if lose.

I understand that i need to underlay with this and using the Risk free calculator i need to put the expected cashback amount which on here suggests 80%. So for examples sake say this is what we got :

    Back 5.0
    Lay 5.3
    comission 2%
    Back stake £10
    Lay stake: £7.95
    Cashback : 8
    Profit : 5.80

So as i understand it, it would tell me to lay £7.95 based on our expected cashback.
However on another site that i use they have a different way of doing this. There is no expected cashback box and instead you would select stake not returned. Whats confusing me about this is that you get a different profit outcome. Which one is most accurate? and which one allows you to make most profit.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Are you sure this other calculator isn’t meant for standard free bets? If it’s definitely a risk-free bet calculator, perhaps they’ve set it so your profit is different depending on whether the bet wins or loses?

By the way, it might be worth asking what their terms and conditions are for free bets. Last time I used their free bets I had a maximum odds limit of 5, which makes 80% extraction difficult.

Matts one is correct. in the cashback box you put in the percentage of your actual stake. (about 75-80% depending on what the bookies odds are like, more like 75% for genting)
it makes more sense to look at this using a spreadsheet rather than the online calculators to explain this but here goes.
If you put in Stake Not Returned it calculates as ALL of your stake is not returned, whereas you want to underlay so that if the bet wins you won’t lose the whole lot out of your exchange, but not so much that you need to use the freebet to break even, which seems to be the advice from profitwotsit.
These sorts of bets are not as good as they first appear, because you can more or less halve it if you want to guarantee profit.
you might be better off to bet and lay on standard qualifying bet settings on an outsider and hope it loses (but we all know about high odds not losing), or you could even just take a punt on something hoping it wins. of course if it doesn’t you will be down because the freebie will be stake not returned.
    But its your choice.
