betman, I said months ago that I wouldn’t go to purely trading on the exchange. Never trusted myself as a trader. I’m building confidence though and see opportunities at the exchange definitely on price boots, probably on bad ew races and probably also on extra place offers on golf etc. Basically anywhere that matched bettors operate and share some of the value back to the exchange. It might be something to focus on after. But I imagine the margins are so fine. A lot of work or a lot of money required to make a decent return.
And really good algorithms for spotting the value because it’s not going to be as easy as looking up the exchange odds. For acca boosts for example you can get a guide on how much the matched bettors have moved the true odds and if the shift represents worth while value by multiplying the individual odds. But for a horse to place in a bad ew race how can you be sure of the value, how can you quantify it?

+0I’m working on a spreadsheet that I’m hoping will do that, I’m just not smart enough to simplify/automate some of the formulae so taking a while…. then need to see if it actually seems to work. But I have a theory on how the midweek place markets form, and this may put me ahead of it.
For some races you can have a rough idea of odds if a nailed on fav and rank outsiders give u less to factor in, I’ve made a bit on just the exchange on those… but I think long term your statement of time/money is true. Probably time neither of us have enough of!+0
Most of my profit has come from punting free bets, other than that its been a few 3-1 free bets and money back offers.
I just dont see the arbs, even on the boosts you have to be staking hundreds just to get £10 locked in profit. Extra place offers have been hard to hit too.
Debating whether to give tomorrow a rest and hit saturday instead, feel like i dont have much enthusiasm for it anymore especially with flat racing, its a minefield rather than a goldmine.

On Monday i would have staked 1k on Winter winning tomorrow, now i wouldnt even feel like staking £20 on him.
+0For the 15:40, if you can get decent EW arbs on say 5 / 6 or 7 horses, is it still worth it to underlay? or would you pick and choose a few to lock in and others to underlay?

enigma, as much as churchil bombed on tuesday, he could have run second and the rank outsider run third, thus meaning no profit at all from underlaying, its just my own preference at times to guarantee profit
+0Right can’t say too much this morning as spent a lot of time on live chat last night with you know who and they asked for confidentiality but it got satisfied in a way that I am happy with.
What I will say is despite great people on here there are ALOT of people who don’t post but trawl through this website. This is almost why I don’t post as much as I used to but only post if something is very different or it is with an organisation I want to lose based on past experiences.
In the future it would be great on this forum if a private messaging system could be added! There are a number of people I have big respect to in particular the stayers who have been on here for a long period of time.
