How do you know what the will hill races are going to be. I don’t see it on the mobile. I used to always see it in the evening but now sometimes it doesn’t show up until late or even the next day. I’m on iPhone app.

Well I’ve gone for Fujin at 7.5. He’s only 6.0 on Will Hill and tipped to win on Betfair exchange so I’m hoping for a qualifying profit

1st time doing the horse offer, all a learning curve, but hopefully someone can critique the strategy.

Razin hell backed and layed at Hills and Skybet, annoyingly when doing this lay odds were up at 3.15, now back at 2.84. Qualifying losses of around £8.

Also had a £10 freebet from SkyBet for no apparent reason so have mugged it on Razin hell aswell with no lay.

    Possible outcomes
Razin Hell wins – overall profit after qualifying loss £8
    2nd – win £50 in free bets
    3rd – Win £25 in free bets
4th or worse loss of £8 in qualifying

Any comments on this, wanted to not go for favourite but spread between back and lay seems really big. People say they wait till 5 minutes before, but is this not gambling? what if lay spread goes in the opposite direction?

Cheers for any comments, good luck to all tomorrow.

John – good luck with it. When people are saying wait until 5 mins before the off it’s that you should wait for both the back and the lay, as that’s when the lay odds get close to matching the back odds. However, betting the night before isn’t so bad, as many of the bookies have best odds guaranteed, and will pay the higher price if the SP is higher than what you backed the horse at. I’ve not gone down that avenue yet, as I’m fairly new to horses. So unless I see a really good back and lay far in advance, I leave my bets until the final 10 minutes prior to the off.

With these offers a lot depends on how much you have in exchange account! I have to do the favourite because I simply do not have enough funds to lay a £25 bet at odds greater than 5.00 decimal but usually underlay as I hate the thought of the my selection winning the race and actually losing money.

    Good luck

I’d say at least 70-80% of the horses I back and lay are available for a nicer lay closer to the race. I know I’m taking a risk of the odds drifting, but
I think it’s worth the risk, and I’m sure the best odds are available the earlier you back

I just find it so frustrating to see I could have made a profit regardless of the outcome

I think £4 is expensive for a qualifying loss but as pavlon said if his bookie odds lengthen maybe that will be reduced in the case of a win.

You need to be sure of picking 2nd one in five races to justify a £4 qualifying loss and that’s just to break even. It’s hard to pick 2nd, favourites win, rags don’t get near 2nd, the 2nd favourite can bomb or win. So …. It’s hard to pick 2nd place.

Really unsure whether to go for the favourite on either SB/WH. Think the qualifying loss will be too much so got two probably go for two outsiders. Who knows there horses?

Paddypower 2nd place to sp at Kempton tomorrow FYI, can’t see any suitable races though.
