    How do you calculate this?

    What should I lay?

    Got matched at 6.8 – there is only £13 queued at that price, so worth being patient and squeezing out that little bit more profit. Doubt it will win (as usual!)

    @sleepless
    – there are 2 ways to do it. In either event you will need to know what your max stake is at Sky Bet though, so head over there first and stick something daft like £1000 in the stake box, at which point it will tell you how much your max stake is. Probably £25 if you are new to all this.

    After that just plug 8.0 (back odds) and 7.0 (current lay odds) into the calculator on this site, along with 5% commission as you can only lay this at betfair and it will tell you to lay £28.78 for a guaranteed profit of £2.32 or £2.34 whether the acca wins or loses.

    Alternatively you can underlay it so that you only make a profit if the acca wins – the lay stake you need for this is calculated as follows:

    Back Stake/0.95, so if you are backing for £25 then you want to lay for £26.32 (=£25/0.95) This ensures that you get your stake back if the acca loses, but that you pay out less liability if it wins, hence the increased profit margin.

    You can find various other calculators that will do this for you and offer a sliding scale in between straight up MB v full underlay. Google trickybet for an example of one.

    HTH :D

    @sleepless £26.32 , you divide your stake by 0.95 to take the commission into consideration

    Thanks Tony. Its £25, giving QP of £2.34 for £28.78 lay. Might try the alternative.

    I didn’t understand OP’s “Risk free £17.08 for £25 bet”

    Hi

    Newbie here, you all seem like nice helpful people. When I choose the three teams to win at Skybet I get odds of 5.09, where am I going wrong?

    Join the club, Orlando – I’m about 2 weeks in front of you!

    It’s the Sky Special Price Boost (the experts on here look out for these to make a profit). Think you will get £5FB if you join the Sky club

    ps I got 6.8 lay

    @sleepless The OP was indicating that if you fully underlayed a £25 stake, you had a risk free (i.e. zero profit or loss) shot at a net profit of £17.08 (based on odds of 8.0 at Sky and 7.0 at betfair)

    Looks like the lay price might drop to 6.6, even 6.4 possible – always worth watching the market before committing to a lay price (provided you have time that is). Use the wee graphs to see how the price has changed over time – they can be a helpful tool.

    @orlandosteve
    You want to pick the price boosted offer (wee yellow box on the page that the banner ad takes you to when you click on it). If you manually add the 3 teams to the betslip you will only get the standard (non-boosted odds)

    Thanks Tony.
    Yeah, I’ve noticed the odds dropping especially with horses. Was pleased it went down to 6.8 so grabbed it.

    How do I fully underlay?. What’s the calculation for this?.

    Thanks guys for putting up with me asking so many questions

    Great, thanx for the help. I’m already in the bet club but it passed me by that this would be my qulyfying bet for it! How do I pick the 3 teams as an act at Betfair, and, for future reference Smaekets?

    Sleepless – I use Trickybet for calculations. Google it and you can see how it all works

    To underlay you just divide you stake by 1 minus the commission. In this example if your stake is £25 and commission is 5% (0.05), then you would use 25/(1-0.05) = £26.32 as your backer stake. Your potential profit is then your sportsbook profit minus your exchange liability.

    I find it usually worth sitting down with a pen and paper and figuring this stuff out for yourself, then making a spreadsheet calculator. It’s a bit of effort but will help you understand what you’re doing and make calculations easier in the long run.

    Ok all done, although I got 7 at Betfair not 6.8. Thankyou for all your help.

    @sleepless – The calculation for full underlay is given in my first post.

    @orlandosteve
    – You cannot manually create acca’s at Betfair or Smarkets. You can lay against any acca combos that However, Betfair always create a market for accas that Sky boost, as well as a lot of other acca permutations on nights like tonight where there is a full programme of games on. Same on a weekend. The easiest way to find these acca markets on Betfair is to type “acca” into the search box on the exchange
