Smarkets technical (un)reliability
-
This must be the third weekend in a row that smarkets have had technical problems. Today we have to manually refresh for price updates apparentely. Starting to think I should ditch using the site, the issues lost me £25 when trying to lay a horse two weeks ago and I dont want to risk more cash on an untrustworthy site.

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

You should always have betfair loaded as a backup!
+0Before today I have been Smarkets biggest fan, never really had any significant problems and the commission saves me hundreds eachieve week.
Today I had 5 runners £25 each way in the Welsh National and £50 each way on the fav and due to the horrendous unreliability wasn’t able to get all of my lays on. Luckily enough one of the lays I didn’t get on won so in the end I was £75 down on that race. I also missed out on lays on another race losing me £50.
I had betfair loaded up and ready but with some lays already in place on smarkets I needed to offset the liability already on the race.
Quite annoyed and hope they sort their systems out soon!
+0Couldn’t agree more – having to manually refresh odds on the mobile site is a pain in the arse. Also, I know (without fail!) that the first time I go to place a bet on Smarkets it will not connect to their server, meaning that I have to rinse and repeat before I can get my lay on. This can be a problem at those time-sensitive moments.
They REALLY need an iOS app and a better UI imo. Perhaps you can have a word Matt? I would imagine that you have sent a fair amount of business their way via the blog 🙂
Its getting to the point where I might withdraw a wedge of my Smarkets balance and stick it in Betfair – alright, you pay a bit more, but you know what you are getting with them.
