Backing and laying Man City for example at current odds would tie up £50.84 in Smarkets until the end of the season but would earn £9.16. Small fry for some probably but a nice little earner if you can bear £50 being tied up!

Thanks for this. Are you overlaying here? Best I can do is guarantee about £6 on 3.5 v 3.6 odds for Man C

Re £6 profit. I’m assuming that The Sun wouldn’t double your stake back ie. £10 bet at 3.5 returns £25 profit X 2 = £50. rather than 2 X £35 returned = £70 (£60 profit). Any ideas folks how this would normally work?

Sorry, slow on uptake here. Just read that it’s double the odds so 3.5 becomes 7.0. Is that right? Ie returns £60. Lay man c at £19+

Bit hasty with my calculations – just as well I’ve not laid it yet (the lay odds have since changed on Smarkets) – doubling the odds would give you effective odds of 6 to back City, 3.45 to lay.

Doubling the odds of 5/2 = 10/2, converting to decimal = 6. With lay odds currently at 3.45 gives you a profit of £7.14.

(If these calculations are wrong someone please let me know!!!)
