The Rollover Requirement – risky or not?

  • Just got into matched betting, all going well so far. Only concern is looking at some of the more lucrative Welcome Deals where any winnings from the Free Bet cannot be withdrawn unless I rollover the amount by x amount of times. For one Welcome Bonus its 12x the Deposit + Bonus, meaning a rollover is required of £1,500.

I’m aware that when using a free bet you should use HIGH odds at the Bookies, meaning the Lay Bet at Smarkets will more likely win, and everything is good. BUT what if that 20/1 bet actually comes off, and suddenly I have given out 2,000£ at Smarkets, and cannot currently withdraw at the Bookies – what the fuck do i do then?

Any tips / advice much appreciated.

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Well for a start, don’t do it! You need to make absolutely sure you have the funds to cover every bet in the worst possible outcome. eg for bet365 you need around £1500 to be comfortable.
Having said that, the good news is that most welcome offers that come with wagering requirements are not “stake not returned” in other words you get your stake back, so no need to bet at high odds (CHECK T+Cs FOR MINIMUM ODDS though).
This means you can just wager through the sign up bonus as a normal bet and basically keep going until you have met the requirement or you lose and the money is in your exchange.

One more tip – DONT DO WINNER!!! Not until you have much more experience AND a float of about £5K! and probably not even then, the SUB is a total pig!

So i just read this and i made the mistake of doing the Winner one yesterday, i deposited 30 and did 2 free bets of 30 on things i was sure would lose… now both came in and i have 130 in my account i can’t withdraw, whats the best way to go about getting that out??

Ryze, be grateful you only did £30…I would say maybe cut your losses…and punt some bets on multiples etc in the hope to get some money back perhaps is your best bet.

I am so glad I did winner long ago when the sign up was £20 free bet on lose. Don’t think I’ve used them since either.
Ryze, only advice I can give is to bet at closest matches possible and hope you get through without losing to much. Read the threads mentioned above, theres some good info in there.

    Good Luck!

Wow, this site.. Avoid winner at all costs, their live chat just try and fob you off with vague answers and say “our terms are stated on our site”, they don’t answer any questions with anything useful.

Looks like Winner is a complete no go then, those T&C’s seem to get worse every time I look at them…

Think I may avoid all the other 50£+ Welcome Bonus’s for similar reasons, at least until i’m a bit more experienced with MB.

Cheers for the heads up though fellas

Think I’m the only person that seemed to like the Winner bonus but then I guess I was lucky and lost my bets and so made profit in the exchange. I tend to tackle these offers by placing smaller bet/lays to try and get my money into the exchange. Obviously this only works if you have a Plan B in terms of being able to put more money into your Exchange if need be and also if you have the time needed to place smaller bets rather than one large say £200+ bet

I’m up to my neck in the Favourit offer. I deposited 100 and got 100 bonus tied up as 200 bonus. My tactic was to back draws around 4 for £50 stakes. I’ve done 4 bets and three and 3 have won decimating my exchange bank. Do you think I should hold my nerve and keep backing draws hoping to lose in the exchange or switch tactics and stick to minimum odds and try and do the turnover, £1200.

Once your first bet wins and you have a large chunk of bonus funds you’d be stupid not to go to the minimum odds and rollover. If you continue to do large odds its just too risky depending on your exchange balance.
