@Pavlon – also been watching these odds. Regretting not putting £100 on stay when it was 1.65/68ish (around the time England played wales).

For those that haven’t done this offer, now is a good time, odds have drifted back to 4.4 (smarkets) for Leave vote. I’d watch the odds over the next couple days, and lay when the price has shortened to some extent. Risky(ish) strategy, but i’d be v surprised to see the odds for leave surpassing 5.0, bearing in mind it hadn’t passed 4.0 until the Cox death, before that, it was a closer call, fluctuating at around 2.6-3.3.

I have layed a fiver on leave so I can break even on the free bet. Then I’m gonna wait for the big swing as i actually think leave will win then underlay or let it roll

    Why bother laying?

Brexit wins you get £60 profit
Remain wins you save thousands of pounds in the long run by being in the EU.

The EU is planning a law to make matched betting illegal. Something to do with Health & Safety

Just read something on another forum with a Brexit thread. You would think with the opinion polls showing its too close to call, that the odds would be a lot closer together, rather than 1.3 remain and 4.2 leave.

“I did read a very interesting point from someone who claimed to be one of the people from William Hill and that he is part of a committee that creates the odds. He sated and I can’t verify this but interesting if true, the book makers have been threatened with massive tax hikes on betting if they published the true odds. This was a few weeks ago and the person stated that the leave was in the 60% plus but they couldn’t put that. The odds did go down slowly over the weeks.”

1.18 and 6.2 on Betfair, the money is going on Remain.

1.13 to 8.2 at Smarkets now. Of course the odds were even wider on the Tories this time last year, so it’s not decided yet.

Farang – yes, I’m also surprised by this, given the opinion polls are so close. But if the bookies are confident of it ending in a, say, 52:48 split, then wide odds does make sense. perhaps also the markets have been skewed by small number of people placing vast sums of money on a Remain vote.
