The lay has been hovering around 9 this afternoon. One of those things – it was hovering at 10 most of last night. Locked in at 9.6 here with overlay.

Are they going to go bankrupt if the bet actually wins? Usually bookies lay off their liabilities but how can they when even on the exchanges its 9.0

Yeah – I mean whilst I feel that this would be a bigger upset than Brexit/Trump due to round one vote, it’s obviously not impossible, so they look to be setting themselves up for a big fall? Particularly since they’re obviously attracting so much business on it, so their liabilities must be huuuge.

I would have thought they’d have had a limit on liability and cut the price when its reached surely?

It is quite worrying as if she did win like you say the amount they must stand to lose is huge…lets hope for our sake she doesn’t win as I can imagine there are quite a few people like myself who have lumped on this.

Little tip for those on this like me….plenty of sites seem to have the opposition at 1.125 vs a smarkets price of 1.12

Easy small profit, but more so ease any liabilities on smarkets (assuming u have a thousand of so sat in 1 of said bookies like dog did)

they will pay out. I think they’re owned by a Russian guy worth 30 odd million and a member of European parliament. he’s maybe hedging against his other non-gambling interests with what would potentially happen to the euro and all.

I think that theory is the wrong way round as tonyb etc (my phone doing a matchedem) would be paying out if the less stable option won
Bookies can lay off against each other too, seems unlikely but they may have taken a liability on macron at a favourable price so can afford to boost le pen for cheap promotion…. I mean who knew how much they had in their tonyb etc accounts till this offer?! (Aside from those who clear to zero)
