Trouble understand extra place offer
-
Hello,
I did my first extra place offer for the masters and I just have a query.
Using the WH offer paying 8 places I placed a £20 bet on Mcllory (£10 win & £10 e/w). Using the calculator I placed the required bets at smarkets.
When I check WH it shows a return of £23 into my account. My understanding from following the calculator it should only have been £13 from WH.
The calculator stated -£10 + £13 + £8.18 + £7.87 = £19.05
Can any help to explain where I am going wrong in my understanding please

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

The £13 is your profit on the place part. You also get your place stake back – the extra £10. If it hadn’t won, you would be -£20 at WH, rather than -£10.
+0I get it. Thanks for the reply
+0Been looking at the extra place offers today can someone tell me if I’m doing this right and if this is a good bet back 21 lay 21 lay place 6.2 thanks
+0arobbo, 1/4 odds or 1/5 odds?
It’s probably okay if 1/4 odds.
You have to check your potential payout versus the cost. See if it’s worth it. If the horse is 20/1 to win then maybe 20/1 to finish in any top spot, maybe a little more likely to finish 5th. So base your decision on the effective odds.
On a good extra place offer you can often get like 100/1 effective odds for the extra place. That is qualifying loss is 10 for example and returns 1000 if you win back and lay.
+0Thanks for your reply it was 1/5 odds I will get my head round it eventually
