Under/Over laying.

  • I’m looking for advice regarding the above.

For example, if I have a Free Bet of say £10:00, I’d be looking for odds of 7/8/9 with tight odds to extract my profit.

However, if ( as the odds suggest) the back bet is likely to loose, (I know they can and do win), how do I figure out my stake?

I don’t mind if I break even covering my QL, but would like to max my profit if I feel my back bet is going to loose.

    Thanks for any advice.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

have a look at https://www.trickybet.net/lay-calculator and play with the numbers.
However you will find that the further apart the odds are the more money you will lose at the exchange if you win, sometimes to the point of losing more than your bet is worth. Underlaying is not really a substitute for poor odds.
And for the sake of clarity, I had the same great idea when starting out only to find its not all its cracked up to be.

Thanks for your speedy reply, and link.

I’ll do as you suggest, and note your comment regarding that it may be not all it’s cracked up to be.

    Cheers

There are also some good MB calculator apps (iOS and Android) available if you are more of a mobile phone kinds guy. Tricky bet is great, but pretty fiddly to use on a phone or tablet.

look up CTB Matched Betting Calculator on google play. I haven’t used it but it looks like it has a sliding scale on it.

On that note, has anyone found and stand alone calc ie not one that’s online?

Just to let you guys know, I’ll be uploading a new version of my calculator in a couple of weeks time. It’ll have an optional advanced setting for underlaying and overlaying via the slider. It’ll be pretty smooth on mobile too. It’s pretty much built, I just need to triple check the maths before it goes live!
