New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Guess I am just weird.
+0@Chris, surely your £20 stake is tied up till the bet is settled anyway, to Lay it is going to tie up a further £18.
I don’t know about you, but I have £700-800 in my exchange, £18 for a couple of weeks won’t even be noticed!Although if you don’t want to lay as you’re taking a value gamble on the result, that is a different matter.
+0Marathon got Chelski out at 2.58 …excellent price. Marathon are a class act.
+0Anyone else let the PSG bet run? Just before full time it was laying at 1.38 so a £10.53 profit. Shame PSG couldnt score a third.
+0Went safe myself. They enhance real tonight but not sure if much profit in it
+0The Real bet does seem short odds even with the enhancement, going to Roma wont be easy.
+0Right, noob question. Never really had money tied up before so makes it more difficult to work out my profit figure. Is the best way of doing this just adding the £20 I staked as well as the potential returns but then my betfair account is also down due to the liability…bet its the easiest thing to work out n all!

I just leave it in a separate long term bets column on my spreadsheet and wait for it to be settled before adding it to my profits i.e just look at it as a £20 deduction on your profits today but a £25 addition in three weeks time.
+0There must be a simple way of working out what the profit is now though…like my Unibet would be £20 but states £0…I will have returns of £44.21. If it comes off. However, my betfair account is also down due to my £27.98 stake and liability of £17.63, must be a way of working it out my mind is just blank though!!
+0If it wins I win £44.21 but lose £17.63 = £26.58
If it loses I win £27.98*.95 = £26.58 = £26.58So maybe just add £26.58? that can’t be right though argg how annoying!! As obviously its like a double negative due to the stake & liability so both accounts being down..
+0I ignore the profit until it comes in, even if it’s the same amount regardless of outcome. But in one column I have all of my account balances (presently £4,997.95*), and then in the column next to that I have my tied up stakes/liabilities.
*the highest it’s been thanks to Bet365 and Paddy rinsing my exchanges over the last week.
+0Guess its just me who would like to know then, guess its just me being OTT. Just annoying me the fact my spreadsheet says I’m down in profit compared to the weekend by quite a bit even with the bet365 offer today and that’s due to these offers tied up. I can imagine its not even hard to work out what additional figures I should just add to get what it should/will be. If anyone can work it out I would be appreciate it! Cheers guys.
+0Isn’t the profit £6.58?
Your bet is £20? And that returns £44.21, minus £20 stake, minus £17.63?
If Betfair wins then you get £27.98*0.95 = £26.58, minus £20 on unibet?+0Oh, and I overlayed the Real Madrid enhanced odds. So nil if Real go through, but £17.28 if Roma somehow manage it.
+0Sorry obviously didnt explain very well. My spreadsheet calculates profit difference between balance on all bookies/exchanged less any deposits is profit. Therefore adding £6.58 to my profit figure doesnt come close as I have £20 tied up from unibet which should be in the balance and my betfait account is much lower also, ah well.
