Unmatched Bet on a team with 'Make Offer'

  • Hi,

I’m new to this all… used my free bet (£40) on sky bet and used a team on smarkets with ‘make offer’ lay bet, as I thought they would accept or reject my offer there and then (in my ignorance).
This came back with a unmatched bet, I’ve done further reading so understand what it is.

The game doesn’t start for 4 days.

My question is, whats the best thing to do as I have already placed the bet on sky bet.
    1) cancel the bet and wait for odds to appear on the team and then re-do the lay bet … hoping it isn’t too far away from my back stake.
    2) Leave the bet and hope it gets matched? then deal with a potential partially matched bet.

Either will require me to pay attention to smarkets till Tuesday!

    Any help will be appreciated.

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

    Hi Graham,

Smarkets is peer to peer betting, meaning you are betting against other users, rather than the bookmaker. Your bet will therefore remain unmatched until someone takes your odds.

My advice would be to cancel your unmatched bet and just monitor the situation between now and the match starting. The lay odds should tighten up. Just leave yourself a reminder of some form so that you don’t forget to match your Sky Bet bet.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi,

Thanks for that! It’s now partially matched £20 out of £32 so £12 not matched, but still no odds up yet. So guessing I’ll have to wait to for the odds to appear so I can sort out the £12 closer to the match ?

    Thanks

You can cancel the unmatched part now if you wish Graham.

If there’s still plenty of time left before the event though, it might be worth just leaving it a bit longer and hopefully it will get matched.
