Urgent help on email offer

  • I have blindly followed an offer suggestion from elsewhere but it’s not making sense to me and I’m worried I’ve messed up. Here’s the instructions I got in the email:

“Make £157.52 guaranteed profit from the Match Book £10.00 refund offer
By placing this bet you will guarantee a total of £157.52 profit from the £10.00 Match Book first-bet-refund offer. * You will need a total of -£116.02 to place this bet but don’t worry; * this money will never be at risk and will be returned along with your £157.52 profit.

    Wolves v Man Utd

    Wolves
    BACK 4.15
    LAY 4.20

Deposit £10.00 into your Match Book account
You will need -£126.02 in your Betfair account”

I’ve followed the instructions, but I can’t work out how I will be ok if Wolves win. If they win I think I will win £31.50 at matchbook but lose my £126.02 liability at Betfair?? Crap!!

I don’t understand this bit in my email:

“… If Wolves wins you will make £31.50 profit from the bet in Match Book and lose the -£126.02 liability in Betfair, leaving you with an overall profit of £157.52
… If Man Utd wins or the match is a draw, you will make £157.52 profit in Betfair (your -£39.38 lay stake minus 500% commission) and lose nothing in Match Book as the stake will be refunded, leaving you with an acceptable loss of £157.52.”

Can anyone shed any light on this and whether I will be ok, or if I can do something to mitigate losses??

I’m thinking I will need to lay some other bets at the bookies to cancel out the lay bet?

I would really appreciate any help

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

At this stage I couldn’t care less if I don’t make any money on this I just can’t afford to lose £130! And as my lay bet is fully matched I can’t just cancel it.

Can’t help with the Maths but can you not cash out on both bets, might take a small loss, at least you’ll not risk a big loss. Got me out of trouble a few times when catching a mistake.

Why don’t you just back wolves on the exchange until your liability is around £32? You’ll not go far wrong then. Will make profit of £10 fb if they lose

Ah yes I should have just done that.
I’ve probably over complicated it now but have bet on wolves winning at a couple of other bookies including another one using a welcome offer of £10 stake refunded if you don’t win.
So now by my calculations I will at the worst be £3.22 down if they win, and £17.22 up if they don’t.
    Got my heart beating though!

Just annoyed with myself for taking the email as read and following it blindly without thinking through the figures myself.
Hope no one else gets caught out, there’s obviously some sort of glitch in their system.
