My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Be careful with tennis, often the rules on retirements are different on the exchange and at the bookies – so that if a player retires you can end up paying out at the exchange and not winning at the bookie (they might just void the bet instead if the player retires in the first set or something like that). So depending what you backed and layed you might be paying out big for nothing.

I don’t know the full ins and outs, just to be careful or at least be aware of the risk you’re taking.

I have already placed the Paddy Power Tournament winner market get a free £5 bet for each match he wins. But my liability is only £51.87, retirements are rare so I am comfortable with that.

I was going to lump £100 on the Bet Bright offer but after your advice I will re-consider and probably won’t.

People are really helpful on here, as a newbie I appreciate all the advice I get.

Outright tournament winner, the retirement rules probably don’t come into it, and set betting too is probably safe. Just the match winner market I think.

Have a search, there must be a thread on here about it.

Tennis rules often differ on handicap and total markets also.

Some bookies will have an ‘unconditionally determined’ rule for those markets so you could end up with a loss/push.

First Set Winner I think is the safest market with rules generally the same across the board but always compare before placing your bet.

Thanx for you reply Sam da man. Missed out on the Bet Bright pre-tournament winner free bet if he wins a match in straight sets. Went to place my tournament winner bet with them at 15.30 and the market had closed early!

Now I hope Murray drops a set in every match ;)
