What happens when a horse racing result is reversed?

  • Just had a bet on the 15.40 @ Newbury and the result has been reversed.

So what happens to the money in the exchange, do they pay out the winner instead and refund the loser?

What happens to free bets if you had the 2nd horse.

And what happens to winning bets on a betting page do these turn to losing bets?

If anyone knows anything it would be appreciated.

There was a small adjustment in my smarkets account which I calculated to be correct but they don’t make it easy.

I had lady of lamenva (sp) with Will Hill, they paid out the winnings which they haven’t reversed yet.

If they do reverse it I think I’ll need to keep an eye out for my free bet.

Smarkets reversed it about 20mins after, think it was a late decision for sone reason. Some sites say lady won others say she came 2nd. Very strange but will hill not reversed yet but sure they must do before withdrawels go through?

Your withdrawal will be most likely be reversed then. It’s also possible that your account would go into a negative balance, but they wouldn’t process the withdrawal if that was the case.

I have 100 on both horses, on various sites and thought I had hit the jack pot as i have been paid out for both horses, (500 profit ish) is it likely that this wont stand now?

I actually think the bookies are just gonna eat the loss here. Its an admin nightmare to sort out with all the free bets and people that have lost their winnings, also cant imagine they will be to eager to take back winnings off people that thought they had a great win. Not good for business surely, maybe im being naive or optimistic, heres hoping anyway lol

As far as william hill, you will keep your winnings, don’t know about other bookies

    First Past the Post

If the result of a race is amended before the weigh-in, when the official result is declared, win single/multiple bets and the win part of each way single/multiple bets will be paid on both the official result and first past the post with the following exceptions: –
The Grand National | ante post bets | forecast or tricast bets | void races | a selection taking the wrong course | a selection given as the winner in error by the judge | a selection carrying the wrong weight | a jockey failing to weigh-in | Totepool bets | favourite points markets | distance markets | bets placed on a two runner race | special match bets | novelty bets | ‘Insurance’ markets | ‘without the favourite’ markets | ‘place only’ markets | match bets.
First past the post is applicable to win single/multiple bets and the win part of each way single/multiple bets only. It is not applicable to placed horses that are demoted.
    Staking restrictions do not apply

I was in the same boat here, Lads paid out on the initial winner and never corrected the error since? Made an extra 175 profit from it!!! 😀
