What is your longest run of QL going for a free bet?

  • Ive seen numerous posts over the past week of people making money but I couldn’t land a single free bet over Goodwood/Galway!

Played the ‘back a winner get a free bet’ and ‘finish 2nd or 3rd’ but just kept missing them.

Remained strict to keep QL down but frustrating as I felt there should have been decent profits this week.

Regarding the back a winner for a free bet, what are your longest losing spells without backing a winner?

Cant wait for the football to start I need some guaranteed profit offers to kick start my matched betting and get some returns before the gubbings start!

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

The b365 offer is 4/1+, so by definition you will only get a free bet at best once in 5.

It might feel like everyone else is hitting winners all the time, well, because ppl don’t post it when they have a loser.

Sometimes you might hit two in a row, conversely, sometimes you won’t hit one in ten. It’s not good luck or bad luck, just normal.

What you can do if you want is overlay.

I bet €60 (=£50) and lay €63.27 because I got sick of the dry spells where I’m stuck picking up qualifying losses for a week. Guarantees me €2 for every loser. If I win, then true I pay out significantly more than normal but should still have enough room to extract €30/€40 from the free bet.

With 12 races Sunday to Friday and maybe 8 on Saturday – for a total of 20 races. So I’m picking up €40 per week even if I don’t hit a single winner.

The other thing with the 4/1+ offer is you’re not just looking for lowest QL, you want to limit yourself to horses that have a chance of winning. So 5/5.2 might be a better pick than 10.0/10.0.

and thats why you have no accounts left pbetts :p

no point in going for the least QL if your pick has not got a chance of winning. Most of my money was betfred boosts last week, I didnt hit many winners on bet365

Not for free bets but i think i went 16 consecutive losers arbing close to the off on one bookie. Fri/sat nights i managed to lose over 2k to smarkets doing the same so no qualifying loss but only one got one winner for around £45 profit.

Johnbo , an idea to increase your chances is to back the same horse on skybet and bet365., when sky are doing mb 2nd/3rd and bet365 have the 4/1 winner promo. That way you profit if you come 1st 2nd or 3rd. It seems to work for me most Saturdays. Obviously it helps when fewer runners in the race.

Also theres a good tipster on oddschecker called Andy Holding, he has quite a high success rate, 1 day last week he bagged 5 winners and 2 eachways from 8 picks.

I only free bet I got from Goodwood was the first day skybet offer, which was easy. After that nothing, was backing a horse to win on one bookie and come 2nd/3rd with another, got bored by Saturday with no free bets and stopped after the 2pm race. I did a couple of races per day for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, but had a good week anyway with other offers. Roll on the football season!

I had a terrible goodwood, only managed 3 4/1 winners (one of which was unwanted) and a beaten by a length at coral! made a bit from boosts etc but its just swings and roundabouts, during chelts it felt like I got a free bet from every race and hit fifth place every time.
along with Gman’s advice, the other thing to do is choose your races carefully, where there is a short favourite back 3 or four different horses at the bookies that do 2nd to fav.
its also worth looking at the place odds as well as you can sometimes cut your QLs to the minimum. (don’t try this at will hill though because they only give you a free bet if you win less than the value of the freebie.)

Great advice all much appreciated! A lot to take on board, definitely going to consider underlaying to guarantee a small profit on the back a winner offers.

Cracking idea to do multiple selections in the 2nd to sp fav, hadnt touched these but that seems like a much better way of making those profitable.

Gman also thanks never thought to check if could do back a winner and 2nd/3rd bets too, that should surely increase chances of landing the free bet 🙂
