What would you consider a good starting pot?

  • Hello!

Newbie here – I’ve just completed my first bet via Profit Accumulator. I was wondering what everyone considers to be a good starting pot? Broad question, I know. My plan is to keep Matched betting as a steady side hustle, but first of all, I basically want to hit it hard and earn £1000+ ASAP, so I realise that I’ll need quite a large pot. Interested in figures – starting pots, time committed to betting, profit in the first month. I’m aiming to commit a few hours a day after work.

    Thanks!

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

To start with, you probably need £200-£300. its not so much you need a massive pot and loads of time, but more when you are starting out its the waiting for withdrawals to come through so you can deposit somewhere else. obviously the more cash you have the better but my absolute number one best bit of advice I can give you is take your time. mistakes can be costly and that’s bad if your still learning and have a small bankroll. we all make mistakes, but its no good if you wipe yourself out before you get going.

as for how much time, again when you start its much more about finding good odds matches between bookie and exchange. It’ll take a while to learn where/when to find good matches, and of course the main thing is whether the bookie has anything to offer. There’s no point staring at the screen on a rainy monday when there’s no footie/racing/darts/cricket actually being played. On the whole odds matches will be well out more than about 4 hours before the event (although sometimes that’s not true) and also if you bet on a Thursday for a game played on Saturday you’ve tied your cash up for three days. That’s fine if there’s nothing on, but if you do find something in the meantime you’ll kick yourself.
At the moment, probably the best times to devote yourself to a few hours are on Tuesday and Wednesday nights when there’s either premier league, FA cup and champions league matches, and on Saturday afternoons.

    good luck
