William Hill New Horse Racing Offer

  • Hi all. I’m fairly new to matched betting so still getting to grips how to play certain offers. My first thought was this looks good but not sure how to play it. Any advice??

    HIGH 5
    Our New Horse Racing Offer

One in three National Hunt (jumps) races were won by five or more lengths last season.

With that in mind, we give you our new racing offer – High 5. Place a bet on selected jumps meetings, and if a horse wins by 5 or more lengths…

» Back the winner and you’ll get a 25% bonus.
» Finish second and get money back as a free bet.

There’s a High 5 meeting every single day:
    ‣ Friday and Saturday – All jumps meetings.
    ‣ Sunday to Thursday – One selected meeting.
    ‣ All live Channel 4 races

It all starts this Friday, just in time for the top class racing at Cheltenham’s three day Open Meeting.

So if your horse romps home, or finishes behind a clear winner, we’ve got this jumps season covered.

Nah sleepless, its a good offer, just Friday was very frustrating.

I got a £25 free bet on Saturday for a second place and £46 in free bets on Sunday backing strong favourites who won very comfortably. I think its well worth doing but I’m not going to attempt it every day and I am sticking to £25 stakes regardless of how short the odds are.

Also, William Hill seem to be the most “same address friendly” bookmaker. I’ve managed to keep another account open and healthy with the same address registered as my old one (different name) and have had lots of free bets over the last three months. Most of the others are being restricted but I have another family members all going strong registered in another city.

Also sticking at it, had some success with it so far, similar to Chris tbh.

I agree that sticking to £25 stakes regardless is the way to go, targeting the second place refund on slightly higher odds horses so that the bonus windfall is higher on the odd occasion that do come in by over 5L.

Have to admit too that WH odds are a bit of a gift – very easy to find close matches and even small (n)arbs.

    Hi Chris

Like you I’ve a couple accounts and look for races with 2 clear favourites with low QL’s. Had a couple of wins and FB’s

Is it Southwell today, Chris?. If so 13.45 looking good

Helps to pass time at least.

I’m taking a break. Actually thought there was international football all mid-week but its just tonight. 188 are doing their usual “unlikely to come in with crap back odds” offer but thats about it so I’ve withdrawn from all of my accounts for some financial reconciliation. I do like a fresh, blank spreadsheet now and again.

    Saturday we go again.

Is the MB2nd part of the offer a straight up money back second or does the horse have to be beaten by 5 lengths as well?

I had a winner yesterday that got me a £28 free bet, happy with that. I also had a winner which won by a neck, at the time I was cursing that I missed out on mb2 but if it had to be 5L behind the winner I’ll feel a bit better.
Mind you, getting 2 winners in a row has probably brought some unwanted attention to my account!

    1) has to be 5 lengths as well.

    2) doubt 2 wins will draw attention on billy hill.

    1) Didnt realise, thanks for claryfing. I will reign in my QL’s a bit if thats the case

    2) I know, I’m just messing around really, my Hills account was my mug betting account for years so I’m hoping they will entertain me for a bit longer than they usually would, It’s seen a lot of mug action over the years. If a trader looked at my account they would proably wonder why I suddenly became very interested in horse racing over the summer however……..

Looks like the 5L margin was only achieved once today… glad I was too busy to bother 😉

Different matter today though – 5 of the 7 winners were by 5L or more. Managed to hit 2 of them, including Court King in the last race @8/1 🙂

Minimal QLs available on several races again today as well (88p, 37p, 75p & 44p on the races I did)

Agree Tony though I only hit one of them today….interested to know if you are finding close matches harder on these races? i.e. getting small losses rather than profit on arbs ha. I guess they are aware of the offer

I’m managing low QLs, as per previous post, getting matches like 6.0/6.0 etc…

I don’t like to wait too long to lay my bets off, so while several of them could have been layed for small arbs if I’d waited a few minutes I’ve been stung too many times doing that.

It’s obv personal preference and it can depend on the characteristics of the race, but I’m perfectly happy “paying” 30p-90p for a shot at the refund/bonus.

Right I admit I’m being lazy on research here but anyone observed the types of races the 5 lengths are hit?
Looking at Wincanton today the 1st and 6th have shortish favourites in novice races, I’d say these have a chance. The rest are handicap races with no stand out market leader, so unless something odd happens in the race or the handicapper AND the market have it wrong there shouldn’t be any big margin winners

Hit 2/3 today. Good offer this ?

I were a tad lucky then given only 2 beat 5 lengths all card! Presumably u looked for tight matches and no other criteria?

My theory looks potentially bo11ocks anyway!
The shorter priced horses both directions both finished in the top 2 and streets ahead of 3rd, but the other horse was too close to qualify. And 25%Freebet on even money winnings isn’t much
The supposedly closely matched handicap races threw up 2 5 length plus winners. Both ones where the price shortened a fair bit, but both enough to make 25% worthwhile- especially of you got on before price dropped
Ironically I used a freebet from a different site on one those winners, backed at 6-1 and sp 4-1
