William hill plus card

My William Hill account was ‘gubbed’ a while ago. I dont get casino offers but still get acca refund and 2/5 clear bonuses. I’m considering getting a plus card which will give me some welcome offers plus future offers. Currently new customers get £40 in fbs and existing get £20 IF linking plus card to online account. The assistant in shop said you dont have to link the the two but i’m a bit wary of this.
Does anyone have this and have there been any issues linking card with online account? I got a grid card added to an existing ladbrokes account last year and was gubbed within a week.
