Anyone Using VPN?
-
With the spate of recent gubbings I wonder if anyone is using VPN to mask their IP address?
I have had a few gubbings recently and am considering creating some ‘new’ accounts. I am fine with different names, bank accounts and addresses but was wondering about my IP address and was wondering weather anyone had used VPN.
I know some people just use a cheap mobile to get round this but I would rather do this in the comfort of my own home!+0April 9, 2016 at 3:11 pm

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

‘I would rather do this in the comfort of my own home’ you can still do this on a mobile….I bought a tablet and a data sim contract, my new accounts in my girlfriends name more than covers this cost.
+0I was looking at adopting Ryan’s approach but I think VPN is a cheaper alternative – although more risky asyou have to remember which “set” of accounts you’re logging into – 1 mistake could cost you both accounts.
I’m advised by a friend of mine who already uses one that most websites work fine but Bet365 uses flash which isn’t compatible for some reason, by no means a computer expert.
+0VPN is just a way to connect to a device so wouldn’t have any bearing on the use of Flash
Ryans’ approach of a cheap data SIM is easier though
+0Planning on using a cheap phone or tablet here for 2nd accounts due to gubbing so. My gf however does live with me, I presume putting our address would result in a quick gubbing? If so can I put our parents address or will this be checked?
+0You plan on using your parents address for your girlfriends account…? What happens when they ask for proof of ID then what will you do? As I assume her ID and any household bills wont have your parents address on it?
+1That was my question, yes. Her id will be my address but she still has some bank statements that go to her folks. If that’s no good I guess my dad will be getting an account!
+0Wouldn’t risk it…if they ask for ID and you can’t provide an ID since her address on her ID clearly won’t have the parents address that’s not going to work. Better off using your dads indeed who clearly has a different address and actually lives at that address.

Ok thanks, I still have enough accounts at present but I’ve lost some big ones such as will hill / paddy power recently, I presume even if family friendly, once gubbed they will not allow another account at the same address even under different person / bank?
+0Have a read up and maybe speak on chat to the bookies, I am almost certain sky are household friendly and therefore allow multiple accounts at the same address provided its a different person/bank therefore that would be an easy option for you. I am not sure which other bookies are household friendly though.
+0The danger with a VPN is that the IP:s that the VPN provides are reusable and that someone else has already been gubbed on the IP that you get provided. It’s safer with a 4G mobile connection.
+0I was using VyprVPN when I was in SEAsia. Worked for all of the bookies but didn’t work for the WH app on my iPod Touch. But the connection was always solid. I think it’s still useful to use separate machines for different sets of accounts, so a sim iPad would be useful, though I found using an iPad to be far from ideal (especially poor for Smarkets). Getting a dongle for a separate laptop might be best, though I’ve never used a dongle so don’t know how good they are.
+0I use my main PC for all of my accounts, have never even logged in to exchanges there. I log the exchanges on a chromebook. I will eventually buy another chromebook, I would love one with a sim slot, would work perfectly for this. If not I will buy a Mifi device and use that. I also have two neighbours wifi networks overlapping in my home, if they ever go on holiday and ask me to feed their cats then I will also be using those. Sky wifi routers have their key written on the back of them (I have one). If you have a friendly neighbour this could also work for you. I would happily buy a chromebook for each set of accounts as I could easily see myself logging the wrong accounts.
+0Similarly baffled when I’ve heard people say they’ve bought (or intend to buy) a separate computer to use or any other hardware.
Virtual machine (vmware/hyper-v) and a VPN would suffice. If you want to be 100% certain you’ll have a unique IP you could set up the latter yourself on a cheap virtual server. Or just tether to your current smartphone as the don suggests.
Remote desktop is also an option if you have a friend/relative that leaves their computer on, or you could create a VPN on their network.
