Anyone Using VPN?
-
With the spate of recent gubbings I wonder if anyone is using VPN to mask their IP address?
I have had a few gubbings recently and am considering creating some ‘new’ accounts. I am fine with different names, bank accounts and addresses but was wondering about my IP address and was wondering weather anyone had used VPN.
I know some people just use a cheap mobile to get round this but I would rather do this in the comfort of my own home!+0April 9, 2016 at 3:11 pm

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Beh some people aren’t as good with that stuff as with me I have no clue. Hence I just decided to buy a tablet with a data sim worked for me, so I could understand why people wouldnt want to go down this vpn route etc.
+0Plenty of very detailed guides that will walk you through it but there’s not much more to it than the don posts above. If people are smart enough to get their head around mb’ing then it shouldn’t be a problem.
Would hate for someone to buy a new laptop/tablet only to get gubbed a month later and have no other use for it.
+0Always wanted a tablet so was a win win for me, paid for itselt instantly as well or course.
+0I don’t think a VPN is the way to go in this situation. If you use a VPN then the bookies will notice and question why you are using a VPN. In fact I personally think it will be red flag.It has been mentioned on another forum that a bookie contacted a user and asked why he was using a VPN. The average mug punter does not connect to betting sites via a VPN. Even using a Virtual machine is not safe IMO. That virtual machine connects to the internet via your actual machine. The only truly safe way is to get a new device with a completely new internet connection. You will also need new address and set of ID documents and bank account to match it!
A lot of hassle if you ask me. But the hardware can be done cheaply all you need is any old second hand Android phone of phablet and a new pay as you go data sim.

@reggy This is not true. You can set the VM to only connect to a 4G device (i.e. smart phone).
+1As said, fair enough if you have a use for it beyond match betting.
I worry that some people get a bit excited when they start out or see talk of gnoming and think they’re going to be making several £hundred each month indefinitely.
Anyway, are you familiar with mental accounting (in economics) Ryan? The idea that it paid for itself is interesting 🙂

Payg/preloaded data sims are only cheap, few quid for 1gb/1month.
Anyway, I actually don’t agree with multi-accounting and would prefer not to encourage people further. To me it’s a bad idea for reasons beyond this.
+0I have accounts in my girlfriends name she has a different address and I use her bank account etc and therefore I dont see this as that risky at all. If people are trying to set up duplicate accounts for themselves using their own name or trying to change it slightly or whatever thats where youll get into issues.
+0I have multiple accounts, I always use Hide.me vpn and clear the private data after every session. The bookies will not notice that you are using a vpn, just that the IP address changes every time you log on.
My main accounts are not used under a vpn, just the duplicate accounts and I’m using the same laptop. My duplicate accounts are under the same address, but in my parents names. I have setup accounts for my friends using this method too on my laptop. Dafabet and Totesport have blocked me so far from sign up offers, but not stopped from having duplicate accounts.
Most of these companies don’t use machine code anymore and my laptop is using Windows 10 with KMSpico for Microsoft authentication.
I know people match betting in Barcelona and Bangkok under vpn, they clear the cookies after every session and use one browser for match betting. Google Chrome is perfect for this as you can clear the private data easier.
+0you can check your vpn here whoer.net they show IP leaks and other problem with anonymity
+0Slightly off topic, sorry – but I’d love to get more insight into a discussion I’m having elsewhere. In terms of gnoming – what are any possible ramifications of getting caught besides for a gubbing for both accounts – in terms of fraud, tax etc? Are there any concrete cases, or insider industry info, that indicate anything specific in terms of any detrimental effects besides for simply losing the accounts?
+0thanks, but I’ve seen that, and forgot to exclude that example of sloppy identity theft – I think what most people are doing here (ie for example placing bets on a mates account) is a far cry from what that scamster was doing.
