Well lessons learned following visit to just 2 shops today – issues with the bike. Probably just as well since I felt a bit like a fish out of water!

    I am on 2 races – the 14:50 and the 15:25 – £20 singles on the top 2 horses.

    The issues I had/have were:

    1) In my ignorance I had assumed the odds would be recorded on the betslip by the cashier but this does not happen so I ended up having to estimate the back odds I had achieved after leaving the 1st shop.

    2) Assuming you go to lots of shops then I imagine it’s important to keep a record of which slip belongs to which shop otherwise there is a danger of using the wrong slip in the wrong shop and a potential gubbing?

    3) I think from what the cashier said in the 2nd shop that I should write the words ‘win only’ on the slip.

Questions for the experts – Setara/Scabadab

If you write the odds in fractions on the slip in line with what’s being quoted on the big screen then will they honour these or is there a danger that the odds they apply could be less? How do you guys ensure you know what odds you actually achieved – I did not want to draw attention to myself by asking the cashier too much – maybe I am being unduly paranoid?

Is it ok to write the name of the shop on the back of the slip or is it better to keep a separate record?

Any help/advice you can give would be much appreciated

…..and apologies but one more question

Do you tend to lay everything off whilst out and about or do you wait till you get home and then, as I did, lay the bets off. I suppose it’s swings and roundabouts as regards which way you tackle it.

I don’t do many shops tennis but if you don’t have the price on the slips then they will pay you SP. so could be anything.

I usually ask the cashier to write the price to make sure that I get the right price.

Thks Fogblog – have ended with one free bet – not bad for the 1st day of this – will see what I get for the winner at the shop where I did not write on the odds – here is hoping!
