New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

There’s probably a sweet spot where the favourite is about 1.4-1.8. If it’s too low the win odds are just miles apart.
+0Betman. For 2:55 have you just layed the win part for now and awaiting odds to come in on the place?
+0That would be the conventional and probably sensible way of playing it
I could only get £4 eway on at the prices I wanted, but would have left laying the win part too. In a large handicap that is going to have liquidity there is less urgency as prices don’t tend to be volatile. So you can wait if it’s likely value will improve
for example my £4 eway was on lucky beggar at 40-1. This could been laid off at 38 last night, but other bookies were shorter price and there was little money to back on the exchange (I think 32 was back price) so all the signs were you’d be able to lay for less this morning when the market gaps were filled. Can lay for 32 now+0Betman. Thank you. Great advise. Gone for a few in that one. Just so I can follow more closely how the markets work and learn a bit more. El hombre @21 golden appolo @17 and Orions now @6.
+0Great price on Lucky Begger. I took that at 29 – hope that wasn’t niave of me at that price.
Also got teruntum star at 13. Annoyingly I took at small hit on the win at 13.5 (now laying at 11.5).
All a learning curve…..
+0If you’re still learning the markets (most of us are to a degree or we’d be trading!) I’d get the win part laid off and learn the place movement.
The above is more something I feel comfortable with while the markets still formEl Hombre should be a good bet, i’d been on that if I could. Just be careful on the shorter price stuff as the value on these is the outsiders. Orions drifts half a point then you probably lose any place arb

lucky beggar was just me picking off last night’s prices. I’d be surprised of you get higher than 28s now today
+0Big sigh…. going for extra place and hit 6th at 34.0/32.0 with an arb on the 4 places.
+0lost £20 on that race, half on unlaid bets and half on miscalcs in my head….. had 2 x hills boosts where I was scrambling to lay off on both smarkets and Betfair as liquidity wasn’t as good as it could been on smarkets
was unlucky on the boosts, was picking from 3 x 16-1 shots and the one I didn’t pick placed! Had a huge arb on one of them too.
the hills guarantee to lay offer plus boosts on all itv races sorted me out though as eventually hit on a nice arb on the last tv race
+0Bigger sigh… 5th this time paying extra place top 4.
+0Unlucky Bobb.
I’m going ti have a bit of post Mortum on my disasters today.
What the heck is up with the back and the lay prices on the exchanges for 6:05 Perth. The prices at the bookies are very very short in comparisons!! Never seen this before
+06.05… what was said last night. Bookies aren’t charity, in fact some are more generous than I thought would be.
how did you have a disaster on those 3 horses? I was on golden Apollo at same price and was a monster arb, el hombre must arbed too
+0Perth 605. Sky place market solely storm 12 laying at 7.2
+0Same race espoir moriviere 12/8
+0Prices weren’t moving anywhere at about 1430. My daughter was going nuts! so just traded out what was there at the time. Also don’t have the nerves just yet to wait 5 to 10 mins before the off.
