Beautiful result in the 14:40 Mussel if anyone was on. First time I’ve made over £100 in a single race for a while

    15.15 at Chepstow?

Is this considered a bad each way? Only 5 runners though

Yeah it would be a bad ew on paper. But with only 5 runners you are running high risk of 1nr/withdrawn etc and if you lay and 1 dosnt start you will be left with a win only bet for double stake and have to pay out the place if it hits top 2 in the exchange
I’d only risk it myself close to the off time and if my ew arb was big..ie about 50% ew arb..at the moment the prices I’m seeing for that race aren’t even arbing (could be better odds un the firms I don’t go in ) but high risk and if there’s a nr with odds like in that race u will be left most likely with very negative win odds bets

Best thing to do in a race like that is try and get a good value ew arb and lay as much of the win off as poss before off and let the place run for value (and hope they all start)

If it was a jumps race I’d be more confident off picking a shot nearer to the start time say under an hour and lay off the place just before start..as very unlikely compared to a flat race that any horses will get withdrawn/have stalls trouble

Atm the best prices on the 2nd/3rd..9/2 & 33/1 are very small arbs and Dont justify the too high risk of a nr etc

Today’s a poor day for any bad ew value races. Only race I like the look of is the 630 Windsor Exta place race -with some firms (avoid the firms going 12r min) which is in my book effectively a bad ew👍

yea I just let all my each way bets run in the 15:15 rather than lay them off, sadly not a good result today

Ok Great, still trying to work the maths out from bit of reading, do you completely underlay for maximum profits?

I take it you do the maths from memory as opposed to using calculators

Best to do plenty of reading up on it first and start off with smallish stakes until u get the jist of it as there are many factors to consider..ie number of runners/when/how much to lay off etc etc
Only use a calculator if your maths is pretty poor- although poor maths isn’t a great benefit in this sort of caper but can be worked around/on
Can check the ew tab on Betfair to see if it’s an ew arb And even lay off on that tab rather than individual win/place lays if dividing by 4/5 proves tricky
