Big Pickle (Winner)

  • Hi guys,
I’m new to the forums but have been following the site for a while now.
I am currently in a very sticky situation. On Saturday I joined Winner to use their sports bonus (Depositing £200 to get £200 bonus), the rollover requirements are ridiculous and almost impossible to complete so I was planning on just losing the money in that account to win it in my Smarkets account.
After a lot of bad luck I have now found myself with £1600 in Winner (£1400 of my own money through losing from my Smarkets account since odds were at least 3+) and don’t know what to do, I still have 10 days before the bonus and winnings are scrapped but now I’m scared to continue betting in case I keep funding the Winner account.I don’t care about making any profit now, i just want my money out. I am all out of ideas and would really appreciate somebody’s wisdom?
    Thanks in advance,
    Scott

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Damn wish it was £2000 when I did it had more than a £1k balance but thats all I got..I definitely thing heading towards the rollover requirement is the way to go..laying multiples won’t be easy but thats this offer for you!

Ryan when you were betting with them were you just betting in £50 bets as in their terms “The maximum bet that can be staked with your first deposit and bonus is £50 per bet, per event”, I’m not sure this is right as I placed a £300 bet and they counted it in the WR? Also how did you lay the multiples, did you just lay the one and hope the other was okay?

Im pretty sure when I did it there was definitely no £50 as I did some pretty large bets! So they definitely must have updated the terms and also added in that extra £1000 available to withdraw. Like I said when I did this offer I didnt do it properly I got lucky..but I definitely wouldnt lay one and hope the other..you can lay some multiples on betfair as in premiership games or you can always lay individually of they don’t clash at the same time but this involves working out the seperate stakes to lay

I hope you took notice of my tentative advice on the all weather. Wasnt a single favourite won at Lingfield today.

I would forget about laying. You have £400 left to wager on singles? Pick even money – the bookie has smaller edge on shorter odds. You should expect to lose £40 on that. Spread it over a lot of bets maybe 40 bets at a tenner so that good luck and bad luck balance out.

I would then start on the multiples. Put an evens shot in each and then an absolute banker look for odds 1/10 lots around. So you have £800 left to wager again expect to lose 10% or a little more because multiples screw you. So you are down another £80 to £160. Again lots of small bets to even out your luck.

Your probably down up to another £200 on top of anything that you lost already but at least the requirements are done and you can pull out the 1400 left and stick back in smarkets.

Fog you might want to get your calculations a bit better before you start giving him advice mate. He needs to wager £1600 on singles and £1600 on multiples if hes gonna play through it. If hes half way through the singles then he still has £800 to go.

These threads keep coming up, proper nightmare with potential losses like that, I feel for you.

I also started the winner signup offer and jumped in before I fully understood what I was getting into, looking back it seems I got very very lucky, got a couple of big wins but I managed to lose all but about £40 which I pretty much abandoned for fear of winning and being back where I started again.

The forums seem more active now than the main page comments, perhaps we could do with a sticky in here covering some of the potential pitfalls of matched betting, the positives are clear to see but now that the posted offers are not limited to only the ones Matt posts, a bit of a warning on how things can go wrong might be an idea.

it doesn’t take much to get sucked in by a few free bets to losing hundreds in a deposit bonus offer with shitty rollover requirements.

I would be tempted to just gamble. Dont match any of your bets and basically just fuckin go for it……because if you match the bets you could be in a worse hole before you know it.

You might lose your cash but you might end up being able to release the 2k as well.

Its a tough one..if you decide to cut your losses and say right leave it. (Hard to do) seeing as the bonus balance will disapear in a few days you may as well chuck the balance on something worthy instead of letting it go to waste that way if it wins youll have an absolute massive balance and be able to be £1600 on multiples etc..just a last resort..hope it doesnt come to that though mate

Really appreciate all the advise guys, different opinions have been helpful for me to consider my different options. Lost a bet on the man city game last night so now down to £1300 – a step in the right direction.
Pickle unfortunately didn’t follow your advice because i didn’t understand what it was about, might look into it tomorrow though.
Dbb I agree with you, whilst it all seems fool proof, there are still some flaws in it, especially when taking on offers like this one.
Frankthetank and RyanB, I’ve decided I’m going to continue laying my singles for now, in hopes that i can bring my balance down, but am not going to continue laying if i keep winning bets. If worst comes to worst I will just have to bet it myself and hope that by a stroke of luck I can get myself out of this mess.
