Horse Racing (13th Feb)

  • Guess its my turn to create the Horse Race thread!

    Channel 4 Races – Newbury 1:50/2:25/3:00/3:35 Warwick: 2:05/2:40

    My thoughts:

    1:50: 8 Runners (Currently) – Sky offering 2nd/3rd, William Hill (Mobile Only), Ladbrokes will both be doing 2nd. Therefore cover 3 horses with those offers, add in bet365 4/1 and also maybe betfairs 3/1. If you are very lucky you could get 1st with Bet365/2nd with WH/Lads & 3rd with Sky, unlikely but you never know!

    2:05: 6 Runners – A few low odds here therefore making it a strong possibility to bag a 2nd refund using WH with one and Ladbrokes with another.

    2:25: 7 Runners – A few low odds also so not a bad shout again.

    2:40 3 Runners – and therefore probably not worth touching.

    3:00 5 Runners – therefore I would wait to see if there are any non runners, one donkey being 100/1 therefore could be a good chance on this one.

    3:35 22 Runners – I doubt i’ll be touching this one. Sporting bet are doing 2nd/3rd so maybe pick a horse with Bet365 and cover 1st/2nd/3rd depending on qualifying losses, but i’ll probably leave it!

    Sportingbet also have their weekly money back as a free bet bet if your horse finishes 2nd or 3rd tomorrow. Their selected race is the 3.35 Newbury. Big, open field but combining with other offers gives us an additional shot at a £25 free bet.

    Coral – bet 20 get 10. Bet 20 on any live channel 4 race at odds 2.0 and above and get 10 free bet to use on Sunday races.

    Cheers for that Chris, its quite handy having someonr that actually knows something about horses! I must admit, I am getting into abit seeing the same horses pop up now ive been doing this a while and stuff!

    Well LAmi Serge is listed as a non runner now in the 300 at Newbury so that’s just 4 horses. He must have decided to go with the Warwick race which looks like he will win easily.

    Isnt it just the usual? Havent checked all yet but standard Sky/Sporting bet/lads & wh/ coral and betway same as last weekend

    Lots of offers, but I don’t like the races. I can only see two Will Hill races that I like.

    Newbury 1:50 – too open anyone could win, anyone could come 2nd. I’m playing this on Skybet but only because the offer includes 3rd as well. And playing it on betfair, so that I have a free bet on the favourite if he is 1st 2nd or 3rd.

    Newbury 2:25 – decent chance of getting a 2nd place finish in this, small field with only 2 or 3 decent horses.

    Newbury 3:35 – Huge field, favourite is 9/2 – no thanks.

    Warwick 2:05 – only 6 runners with the 7/4 and 9/4 looking likely to share the top two spots.

    The other two channel 4 races ruled out because not enough runners.

    I had a quick scan of the Paddy Power 2nd to SP’s too and nothing jumping out yet.

    So I have 2 horses on will hill, 1 on sky bet, 1 on Coral and a few on betfair but I wouldnt hold my breath on those – I dont really like the betfair promo especially when they stiff you because your 7/2 shot went off at 5/2 SP so no free bet.

    I’m not expecting a huge day.

    Coral are new to the game as of last weekend (I think?) plus there arent usually six televised races like there are today so we have six chances at Ladbrokes.

    Fog, I agree 1:50 is open but the fact you can cover 2nd/3rd with Sky, another 2nd with WH another 2nd with Lads/ 1st with bet365 & 1st with betfair…..thats a lot of positions covered. Try keep qualifying losses down its definitely worth doing this race as youd only beed one position to profit but there are chances to get more than one.

    Im stepping away from William Hill today as I actually had three in a row on their money back 2nd last night and one of my free £25 bets won so I had a big balance there.

    Agree alot of the races are very open but theres no harm in having a go, with the 3.35 you have a chance at 2nd and 3rd with sportingbet, 2nd with William Hill and Paddy and also Ladbrokes.

    Paddy Power – Newbury 13:20 Meet the Legend (11/10 W/O and 3/1 to win => implies probability of about 21% of 2nd to SP). So if you can qualify for less than £4 then there is some value there in my opinion. At the moment 4.0 to back and 4.6 to lay on smarkets – for loss of £3.60 but I would try and get him for cheaper to really make it worth it.

    It is the only one that I could recommend on Paddy today, I think.
