William Hill New Horse Racing Offer

  • Hi all. I’m fairly new to matched betting so still getting to grips how to play certain offers. My first thought was this looks good but not sure how to play it. Any advice??

    HIGH 5
    Our New Horse Racing Offer

One in three National Hunt (jumps) races were won by five or more lengths last season.

With that in mind, we give you our new racing offer – High 5. Place a bet on selected jumps meetings, and if a horse wins by 5 or more lengths…

» Back the winner and you’ll get a 25% bonus.
» Finish second and get money back as a free bet.

There’s a High 5 meeting every single day:
    ‣ Friday and Saturday – All jumps meetings.
    ‣ Sunday to Thursday – One selected meeting.
    ‣ All live Channel 4 races

It all starts this Friday, just in time for the top class racing at Cheltenham’s three day Open Meeting.

So if your horse romps home, or finishes behind a clear winner, we’ve got this jumps season covered.

1.83/2.05 just before the off. I’m calling for every man who respects his time and money to dump ShitMarkets.

I’ve all but given up on Smarkets….

As an aside the SP for Timeforwest is a fecking joke.

I backed at 1.83 a couple of minutes before the off because I wanted to get on that horse… couldn’t even get close to a feckign match and eventlually had to lay off in running at 2.04.

I was planning on underlaying but didnt get the chance…I think my QL was eventually about £25 for the win and £50-£60 if it didn’t.

The lay dipped under 1.8 for a minute at 16:02 before drifting back up to 2.1

Yes and the odds at that time were 1.73!!!!!!

Yeah…but if you backed at 1.80 when the odds the lay odds were 1.83 and moving down (I was just about to but missed) you could have layed at about 1.77

It’s a bit of a gamble but it’s how I normally do it.

I was always going to underlay such a strong favourite so I took 1.63 and layed off what I didn’t want to risk at 1.8. BOG paid out at 1.8333 (its worth having Hills set to Fractional odds and convert yourself you can then see the small differential).

It’s no good slating Smarkets, I can guarantee BF would have been the same odds. At lower odds staking more the difference is going to have a greater effect.

Mickey, you have to remember after bet365 and before this offer came along we all trying to scrape along with MB 2nd to SP fav. And making most of our money on footy at the weekend. Yes it’s been tough since Cheltenham but it still has potential and will provide a profit in the long run.

Exactly Bob, you have to bear in mind how much profit this offer has made you thus far and therefore your still getting value by taking greater QL’s, Timeforwest was such a strong market leader that you had to assume it would a. Win and b. Do the distance so worth the risk. I know races don’t always go to form but sometimes you have to trust (hope) they will.

    Agree with steve.

Mikey I know you are my pup but you are sounding a little entitled on here now. And as I keep telling you…dont put bets on if there isnt a lay available. Unless you are an experienced trader you are effectively taking a 50/50 gamble and you cant blame smarkets for that. And remember there are 6/7 races a day…you don’t HAVE TO back on every race if the odds arent there just walk away FACT

I’m not matchedem, that’s why I was mad! Closest as I said was something around 1.83/2.04, I wanted to put 400 on which would have resulted in a -44.87 loss. How does that sound? And I didn’t want to gamble around with underlaying and BOG, why could they just not let normal prices on like! Anyways correct me if I’m wrong but did there not use to be 2 meetings on Fridays? Wetherby looks bad. AGAIN?

When the offer first started it was all jumps meets on Friday and Saturday but seems to have been reduced.

Again there are not obliged to offer you this pup so try feeling a little less entitled eh

Mickey, all your comments pretty much say “why won’t bookies make it easy for me to make lots of free money”. We (matched betters) don’t have a divine right to make money on every offer, bookies primary objective is profit.

    1. Yes the differential between Hills and Smarkets were quite large on that race, but Hills odds were tracking evryone else’s, Smarkets odds are driven by punters. You could have reduced your stake and therefore your QL? You could have took a gamble as I did. Or (as you did) you could have skipped the race. Their is nothing to be gained from bemoaning the fact that things didn’t go your way, just move on.

    2. Yes, there used to be 2 meetings on a Friday and all meetings on Saturday. But clearly Hills have reviewed the promotion and decided to cut the markets as they believe that it would be more profitable. Be thankful the offer is still on at all. Good offers come and go all the time, when a one goes there is always another just round the corner.

    3. Wetherby looks bad again? What are you hoping for here, that one meeting every day will have a short priced favourite in every race and Hills will pick it as their high 5? If only life was that easy.

Why don’t you give yourself the day off and go and play footy with your mates! I fear that if you don’t you will end up more frustrated and angry than you currently are!
